To wonder why people still don't get it?!

Earlier, I was in the garden and I heard my neighbour saying to someone that she doesn't think the covid test will be positive as she thinks it's a cold but her sons being tested anyway.

Anyway, I was just putting something in the bin which is out of the gate, and when I was walking back to my house I saw her son go to bin some rubbish, I thought it was odd as why send him if he's got symptoms, he then proceeded to cough all over the bins including mine.

I'm a bit Hmm as surely someone who doesn't have symptoms could've gone as threw the rubbish away. Aibu to wonder how people STILL don't get it?

indeed, that is how it is spreading.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/06/2021 17:39

although of course going out to the bins isnt exactly the same as going to the pub or the shop

elenacampana · 21/06/2021 17:41

It’s very unlikely that you’ll catch Covid from an outside bin.

Whatalottachocca · 21/06/2021 17:43

The only thing I don’t “get” is why people are still so hysterical about it. 🙄

Sometimesfraught82 · 21/06/2021 17:43

Covid not going to make me take the bins out!

That’s my daughter’s one bloody chore!

Meredithisgrey · 21/06/2021 17:44

Well to be fair, if stuff needs to go to the bin, it needs to go the bin.

And surely you would be washing your hands immediately after going to the bin.

Even if covid wasn't a thing.

Totally agree with this. Unless you’re in the habit of licking the bins…
JeanClaudeVanDammit · 21/06/2021 17:45

You’re not going to catch it from an outdoor bin. This pandemic is not being driven by people catching it from surfaces, we know that now and have done for some time.

Same.

Hmm

How about you wash your hands after touching another family's bin lid ?

pussycatlickinglollyices · 21/06/2021 17:47

@elenacampana

We were told to wipe the wheelie bin handles with anti-bac yes, I know it's a virus when putting the bins out and again before bringing them in, so after Cheese and Egg had been.
BashfulClam · 21/06/2021 17:49

Do you lick the bins? Once I touch the bins I wash my hands straight afterwards as they are pretty minging.

flj0 · 21/06/2021 17:51

I wasn't touching another family's bin.

I don’t understand, is it that you think they aren’t taking it seriously because they think it’s a cold or because they went to the bin outside with symptoms?
First of all you can go to the bins if required or you’d have overflowing rubbish for 10 days .
Secondly they are taking it seriously because they are having a test , it’s what you say it’s probably a cold I’ve done it myself.
Thirdly stop eves dropping.

wasthataburp · 21/06/2021 17:59

So he's got a cold and put the bin out? And you are posting about this because? Sorry but life doesn't stop because of a sniffle. Get a life

TinaYouFatLard · 21/06/2021 17:59

I can’t believe people are still this level of paranoid.

wasthataburp · 21/06/2021 18:01

"I wasn't touching another family's bin."

What's the problem then? Apart from your serious paranoia

user1487194234 · 21/06/2021 18:02

Is there any risk in that behaviour

Seems very unlikely to me,I honestly wouldn't have given it a thought

Batshittery · 21/06/2021 18:05

He's gone to his own bin outside and you think this puts everyone at risk? Surely everyone washes their hands when they have touched a bin?
Batshit crazy

NobdieTheNob · 21/06/2021 18:05

OP, if you weren't touching another family's bin, did you think you might catch Covid from looking at another family's bin?

Do you often think about bins?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 21/06/2021 18:08

wash your hands before you eat, before you cook, etc;, take care

Our bins are next to each other and he coughed over his own and mine.

The bins are part of your property aren't they, even if in a communal place? I went to my car parked on the street and put bins out when I had covid, I didn't go near anyone. You can wash your hands after touching your bin if you are worried.

Meredithisgrey · 21/06/2021 18:14

I wasn't touching another family's bin

But surely you wash your own hands after touching your own outside bin away?

You can't have this level or paranoia and not be following basic hand hygiene, that's basic, even without a pandemic.

EmeraldShamrock · 21/06/2021 18:18

Wash your hands afterwards you'll be fine, assume it is on everything outdoors.
