AIBU to think GRCs should be revoked if a male person is convicted of committing a sexual offence?

The granting of a GRC to a male is a huge statement of trust that you will 'live as a woman' if you then commit a sexual offence against a woman/child (in a male way ie using your male genitalia) should that GRC then be revoked? Part of prison is a deprivation of liberty...

The current prison policy is bonkers, issuing GRCs is crazy but just like you can lose yr driving licence, might GRCs be taken away for bad behaviour?

Does anyone have statistics of what crimes people in prison have committed?

I believe about 51% of transwomen have committed sexual offences.

I don’t think the proportion of women in prison for sexual offences is anywhere near that.

Very happy to be corrected if anyone has statistics?

4% of people in prison are women…that is a massive minority which is drastically affected by having males incarcerated with them.

@entropynow

Yes because cis women never commit sexual offences.

This is out and out trans bashing and will be reported.

women make up just 4% of the prison population, which kind of proves that males make up 96% (when they’re not being inaccurately recorded as women)

I am a woman, born a female. I am not a "CIS" woman. What a stupid word, don't label me with something I neither asked for or want. I've got this far with out any use or need for it, please don't assume we all call ourselves "CIs" women. Ridiculous 🙄🙄

Herja · 21/06/2021 22:13

If a crime is committed with a dick, it's clearly not been committed by a woman.

Women (not 'cis', just women) do indeed commit sex crimes - at vastly lower rates than men - none of them use a penis though.

It's ridiculous that someone can remain legally female, while sexually attacking with their male sexual organ. It is insulting to female victims of sex attacks, to name their attackers women.

Please list all of the cases of rape (under the English law definition) committed by women in history.

I'm waiting.

I think it is more important to record sex separately to gender for the perpetrators of crimes.

Exactly this!!

Cis women are entirely capable of sex crimes. This is not a male only thing.

98% of sex crime in the UK is perpetrated by males. However they identify. To keep repeating 'but what about the women who commit sex crimes' is rather ridiculous.

Of course, women do, but it is undeniably, overwhelmingly males who are committing these crimes.

And statistics were linked up thread about the % of transwomen in prison that are there for sex crimes. It is rather a large % and is again, undeniable and is overwhelming.

A person with a GRC gains access to single sex spaces when the exclusion is not invoked. So, someone who has been convicted of a sexual offence, should definitely never have access to female single sex spaces again where women are in a vulnerable situation.

For those repeating that women commit these crimes too, maybe look at the types of sexual offences of females vs males too.
