I have severe eczema and Crohns - theyre both immune system related, crohns is under control with diet and anti inflammatory medication.
However - we've never managed to get my skin under control. It is red and weepy and bleeds and leaves behind thickened skin. I currently use a steroid cream on and off and use a diprobase cream at LEAST 3 times a day.
Tired of having crocodile flaky horrid skin - oh wise mumsnetters what can i do!?

I hate to be all woo, but Chinese medicine has a good track record with eczema. Ask around and see if there’s a good traditional Chinese herbalist in your area.

Yes! You are right!

Hi OP this is anecdotal from my ezcema experience but diprobase made my ezcema roar if I used it.

I swapped to aveeno and although the excema isn't gone, it's a whole lot easier.

However I get terrible excema around my mouth which often gets a fungal infection and the GP prescribed zerodeen for this, but I can't use emollients on my face at all, they make my skin sweat and weep. So anyone with advice for mouth excema I'd love your secret!

I would pay the couple of hundred to see a dermatologist privately. My gran recently paid to have a CT scan privately and she managed to get to the front of the queue for the NHS because they are all linked. This was after her scan and seeing some damage.

My manager also paid privately to see an ENT consultant. She paid £300 or however much, and he gave the number to his NHS admin and she.mamaged to get treatment on the NHS.

I would see the consultant in dermatology because it always overlaps and it will be worth it to get your life back. My gran suffers with her skin too and she had got it under control now and it's changed her life

Have you spoken to your IBD team about it? IBD can manifest itself in a number of ways and on the skin is one of those.
