Interested in whether this is a thing. Employing a live in housekeeper on the pretence of a long term arrangement but really just want them to deep clean the house for a few weeks? MIL started a job two weeks ago , the house was filthy apparently. She worked 6 days 8 hours for two.weeks , 500 . DH got a call.on Friday asking to.pick her up as the job was too much for her. Reasons I am suspicious - the women kept asking MIL at start that she had somewhere to stay , the house was filthy and they were preparing for a party, it sounds like the house was cleaned from top to bottom and it was in a terrible state , they also employed a gardener ( the garden was also terrible apparently) , who worked 12 hours days getting it sorted never to be seen again. My MIL turned down another job for this . The women seemed to have no comprehension of the impact and gave no other reason. The women was also an alcoholic apparently. Does this happen? Is it cheaper than getting a company in

£5.20 an hour for a massive deep clean. They're CF for that alone! That's not even minimum wage!

I doubt it’s widespread but yes, some people are pricks.
