Is it possible to fit a catflap into a door with glass panels like this?

I don’t think so - even if you could fit it it would leave big gaps and be very draughty , last time I had a door like that and needed a dog flap I bought a cheap second hand door and swapped it out

Oh dear I was hoping a glazier might be able to seal the any glass edges when fitting?

I think it'd be a lot easier and cheaper just to get a different door.

We have a cat flap in a double glazed glass panel. You need a good glazier.. but I don’t know about this door.

DynamoKev · 19/06/2021 17:29

Don’t see those couldn’t be replaced with a single panel - glass or wood, and then the flap fitted in that.

AmandaHugenkiss · 19/06/2021 17:40

Agree if you replace that with a solid pane of glass or wood, you can fit a flap. We have one in our kitchen window.

You could take out 2 of the glass panels next to each other, and also remove the glazing bar between them, and replace them with a piece of ply with a hole cut in for the cat flap.

Or more expensive, but would look better, take out the 2 glass panels and thr glazing bar, have the glazing bar cut shorter and an additional horizontal one put in so you have a square at the bottom done in plywood with a hole cut in for the catflap, and then have the glass cut shorter so there's 2 half height glass bits above the flap.

Ah maybe I’ll have to do just that (replace two panels). Fortunately I have some spare paint I think

this is a port cullis door design the answer is maybe but won't be easy, might have to change design a little

DeathByWalkies · 19/06/2021 18:19

Have you got any ground floor windows that could be used instead?

Skysblue · 21/06/2021 13:28

Nope. If you fit a catflap into glass you have to buy a completely new glass panel (done it).

Replacing glass simple though.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 21/06/2021 13:38

It's not a very secure door anyway, but you could get a joiner to take out all of the glass at the bottom and replace with a sheet of ply, then cut it to suit your cat flap, then paint.

Only thing is, it's a front door? anyone could reach in and nick your post.
