Strongest sperm

I just read an article about a woman who asked M&S to write “Glad you were the strongest sperm” on her daughters 18th birthday cake and the shop refusing.
Apparently she went onto social media to brand the company “snowflakes” and go in on them for not being able to take a joke, branding them “old fashioned” and commenting that they were unable to take a joke.
In response, M&S have apologised saying they should have gone ahead with the order and sent her flowers.
The rest of the article goes on to say about how she had to settle with a “bog standard” message and how the company should get with the times.

Thoughts?

I personally think she sounds like a knob trying to be a bit too cool with her kid and I hate the fact that Sparks buckled but that’s my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong, it is quite an amusing thing to say to your kid (I guess.) Its not offensive but I feel like the girl ended up with a better cake because of the shops refusal ☺️

I agree with you. The mother sounds like an absolute idiot. M and S should have stuck to their guns.

@AutistGoth

Strongest sperm? What about "my choicest egg?" What about, "I'm glad I went through pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding and child rearing etc?" I'm not sure that I like the male getting all the credit here. It's odd how the person in question is accusing them of being old-fashioned when the celebration of the child's life being tothe credit of the father is almost pseudo Victorian.

As for M&S, I think that they were very dignified in their response. Both in the original refusal and the way they handled the subsequent complaint.

This!!

I think M&S were being daft not just putting the message on the cake as it's not actually offensive - I could understand if it was something discriminatory. But she does sound like a massive attention seeker too.

@HopeYourHighHorseBucks Agreed. It is trashy and if that’s your thing then independent cake makers can afford to do that. M & S have a USP as being above the rest (right or wrong) and sticking that on there was bound to get a no. The more I think about it the more I believe it was done on purpose to illicit this response.
