Hayfever

I'm suffering more this year from hayfever than I have done in years. I'm having to stay indoors pretty much all the time, my eyes are constantly red, swollen and itchy and I haven't had a clear nose in months.

I'm going on holiday to Devon next month and I'm starting to dread it. Its a big family get together and weather permitting, everyone will be outdoors mostly.

Would I be unreasonable to have a hayfever jab? It's a steroid injection but seems to be a low enough dose to mitigate most of the dangers of them.

I am suffering terribly too. Not bothering with the injection at this time of year though as I think it's bad timing. It won't kick in for a while and make me more susceptible to cold/flu once the colder months come.

You'll be fine by the coast I bet, I always am and my dad who gets wicked hayfever.

I thought you had to have the jab in January for it to start working and there are some quite significant side effects, or is it a new jab now?

My Hayfever is really bad this year, it's usually better by the coast though.

Op I just wanted to say you're not alone with suffering worse than ever this year, my hayfever has been off the scale. I'm assuming pollen counts are ridiculous and to be fair they are forecasting very high most days at the moment. I was given fenofexadine a few weeks ago and have to say I didn't find it any better than the ones I can buy, which I'm also taking like toffees at the moment, however stick to one a day off those and wonder now if I could get some more and try taking 2. I also use eye drops and I've been given a ventolin inhaler for my chest, maybe you could ask your gp for one of these? I think by the coast you might get some relief, I'm desperate for a day at the beach for this reason, we live in a very inland, very grassy/tree lined area.

@Twinkle01

I'm on 180mg per day, I've no idea if that's standard or a high dose?
