Please no bashing or digs about covid symptom list this isnt so cut and dry.

14mo has had his MMR today at 5:30 and has just woken with a cracking fever.

Everything I'm finding online is that a fever caused by MMR injection will come around day 6-10 and any fever before then is likely to be unrelated.

So is that us all isolating and him having a PCR? Or is this 111 for advice? His temp is 38.8 and he's pretty upser with himself unless on a boob.

Sorry for being that person, asking these stupid questions.

Both of mine had fevers the night of their MMR jabs. Not sure what I'd do in covid times. Does he go to nursery?

SeaToSki · 14/06/2021 23:19

I would keep an eye and see how he is going in the morning. Paracetamol might be a good idea.

DirectionsForUse · 14/06/2021 23:20

I dare say there.will be those who say I'm wrong but I'd wait and see how he is in the morning.

I hope you have a good night OP

Did he have his Men B as well?

loopyapp · 14/06/2021 23:31

Yes it was the Men booster too, hes had Calpol and has gone back to sleep but is pretty restless :(

His temp has neither increased or gone down yet.

He does go tk nursery and was there this morning. Me and my eldests do twice weekly LFTs and Sundays was clear for both of us.

Thanks again everyone

They should have advised to take paracetamol as a precaution as it causes a fever in many babies:

www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/men-b-vaccine-side-effects/

I'd see how he is in 48 hours, but if no other symptoms almost certainly the vaccine.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasher86 · 15/06/2021 09:03

It's almost certainly the vaccine, but you may find nursery want him to be tested. As far as I know most places have a requirement for kids to be tested following a fever, even if you're 99% sure it isn't covid.

loopyapp · 16/06/2021 00:43

Well the fever never returned and his legs are sore as heck and hes a proper wee grump.

I spoke with the nurse who gave the shots and she doesn't want me to put him through a PCR as its clear the fever was from the vaccines

It’s not a stupid question! I’m glad that the fever is easing.
