Getting changed in toilets.

Hop27 · 14/06/2021 22:35

I use the end of trip (changing/locker rooms) in my office building daily before and after the gym. There are 10 showers/private changing rooms and a larger communal changing space with lockers. AIBU to think you don't use the 2 toilets to get changed ? I get it if you don't want to use the communal space but then use the private changing rooms. Every day I go down and can't go to the toilet before my gym session. Surely that's the last small space you'd want to be with your personal belongs ....

Well I wouldn't choose to go in there over the changing rooms, but honestly if I had to go to the toilet may just change in there straight after to make it easier.

Moonshine11 · 15/06/2021 10:33

Can you not just wait until their done?
If just getting changed surely wouldn’t be ages?

InTheDrunkTank · 15/06/2021 10:38

YANBU it's obviously inconvenient to people who need a wee and also a bit baffling. Why would you want to get changed in the loo when there's a private changing room available?

FictionalCharacter · 15/06/2021 10:42

I would definitely not get changed in the toilets if there are changing rooms. I’d change in the communal one if they were occupied, not just to keep the loos free but I find changing in the toilets very grim.

Palavah · 15/06/2021 10:47

Are the private changing rooms obvious/well-signposted?

FrangipaniBlue · 15/06/2021 10:55

It's the same in the gym changing area of my local sports centre - only 3 showers in cubicles but a big open communal area to dress by the lockers. People still insist on getting dressed inside the shower cubicle and taking ages to do it, meanwhile there's a queue of people waiting to get a shower so that they change and get to work!

Selfish.

altoran · 15/06/2021 11:04

@FrangipaniBlue that is because they do not want to change in front of others.

FrangipaniBlue · 15/06/2021 11:58

I know why it is.

But one persons body hang up doesn't trump another persons need to use a shower and get to work or wherever they need to be on time.

It is perfectly possible to change behind a towel without flashing everything at everybody but if you really don't want to then at least have some consideration for others and get dressed in the cubicle quickly!

We all need to be considerate of each other, one person doesn't get to say "well I want to take my time getting dressed in private and bollocks to the rest of you".

AdjustableAssholeSettings · 15/06/2021 12:04

Just call out if they take ages "hey are you OK? I need to have a wee!"

Whinginadeville · 15/06/2021 17:12

It's rude and selfish especially for the before work crowd

MrMeSeeks · 15/06/2021 17:19

Maybe they’re going to the loo as well?

bloodyhell19 · 15/06/2021 17:56

Two birds one stone - they change and go to the loo at the same time?

Looubylou · 15/06/2021 19:10

I would rather have to sit and wait 30 mins than get changed in a public toilet. I certainly wouldn't want anything but my shoes to touch the floor - I wouldn't put my bag down for instance. I didn't think like that in my teens/early twenties though. Looking back I was a right minger. 😂

44PumpLane · 15/06/2021 19:39

YANBU.... Sick a note on the toilet door

newnortherner111 · 15/06/2021 20:10

Are the changing rooms for both women and men? Is it women using the toilets, perhaps because they have objections to using a place men can use?

Hop27 · 15/06/2021 22:53

It's pretty clear where the changing rooms are and it's a same sex end of trip. I can't imagine wanting to stand bare foot on a toilet floor..

What does "end of trip" mean?

cakewench · 15/06/2021 23:24

@funnylittlefloozie

What does "end of trip" mean?
Yes where is everyone going?
Ponoka7 · 15/06/2021 23:28

Are there seats in the changing rooms and do the people doing this need to sit down to get changed?
