Bugs bugging me!

Hi,
Posted here for traffic (very little attempt to find a related topic but couldn't).

The wood around our windows rotting and we're waiting for landlord to sort.
As a temporary (perhaps longer than temporary now) solution he's taped them up.
Last few days it's been sunny so window open while I work and I cannot figure this out.
I don't actually care about it, what is bugging me is that I can't work what's occurring.
I've tried google many time and nothing quite fits.
Anyone have idea what these wasps are doing?
I believe they have a nest within the wood but it seems like they're carrying babies to it. I've tried to have a better look but they are fully attached to the big wasps and obviously I don't want to wind them.
They're doing frequently across the day.
Partner suggests it's shedding but I don't think so.

Looks like a wasp and a bee in the first picture. Wasps do kill bees, and also steal their larvae to feed on, but not sure this is happening as the bee seems to be full size...
Some wasps also turn other insects into zombies (parasitic wasps) so maybe that’s what’s happening there?

Thank you for replying! I'm determined to find out.
That zombie thing sounds crazy although every bug they bring is stripy like themselves and look too flat to be a bee. The search continues!

That’s a hoverfly.

Wasps are highly predatory. It will be taking this one back to the nest to feed to larvae.

@Notable Oh!
Weirdly again google doesn't have any of this (not that it's the be all and end all)
Very interesting. Thank you Smile

@Notable I wonder how they're getting so many, it happens so frequently throughout each day so very predatory!

It may be that they’re also predating other things such as spiders and the such but the hoverflies catch your attention because they’re colourful? Or maybe you just have lots around you.

Hoverflies are excellent mimics and the uk has loads of different species.

Adult wasps only eat sugar. The prey that they bring home will be to feed their larvae. The larvae in return excrete a sugar that the adults will feed on. Later on in the summer when the job of raising larvae is done the adults have to go find sugar elsewhere. Hence our al fresco dining gets invaded.

Social wasps have fascinating little worlds.

I’m sure I can google up some reading for you…
