I spend money most days, I could reduce this if I tried though as I do have a bad habit of buying stuff online/ from Facebook market place, etc that I don't really need (but want!)
Today I've only spent £1.50 on a packet of biscuits and some milk
Yesterday I bought petrol, food shop, plants from garden centre
Friday was more plants and some pots
Thursday I bought essential oils from Amazon, birthday present for a friend, top up shop

I would think I spent money every day.
Off the top of my head, yesterday I bought flowers and drinks for a garden party I was going to, drinks for us, bought ingredients to make food and booked something online for dd2.
Today I bought some stuff for our pet, transferred some money to dd2, ordered a tshirt for sports day and a book.
To be fair, most of the stuff for Saturday could have been added to my online shop which came on Friday but I didn’t think of it in time.
I’m a total online shopper though; it’s very rare that I go in to real shops ever.

I am not sure what the difference is between spending a bit of money every day...and I am talking about "real" spend not using petrol, gas, water and so on....and spending a shedload on one day and then nothing for a while? why is one "a lot" and one not?

Hankunamatata · 13/06/2021 20:44

Depends. I was buying coffees and lunch each day at work and realised it was costing me a fortune.

NameyNameyNameChangey · 13/06/2021 20:44

Some do and some don't
If it's not your money, why do you care?

RosesAndHellebores · 13/06/2021 20:50

Does it really matter. I went to the hairdressers on Friday and picked up a few bits from Waitrose on the way home. Went to Sainsburys on Saturday and did the big shop, Homemade today for some bedding plants a greenfly spray. Spent three days on the trot.

Tomorrow I am going to work and always take a flask and lunch. Tuesday to Friday will wfh - unlikely to spend anything.

@OverByYer

What a stupid thread. You’re spending money every day whether you realise it or not through tax, bills, interest etc;
You now what she means, stop being so contrary !!

I think it's an interesting thought. On moneysavingexpert they have lots of threads on 'no spend days' as people struggling with debt/spending realise that their small daily spends add up massively over the month/year. They use the no spend days to force themselves to think about what they're buying.
