Sorry,.posting for traffic.
Had my baby last Sunday via forceps and had episiotomy.
Was told to do pelvic floor exercises which I'm trying to do but still a bit sore.
The problem is, is that I can't feel when I need to wee...you know when you say I'm desperate for a wee I don't feel that. When I stand up after sleep or a nap it comes out and I wet myself this morning and couldn't stop it.

I'm slowly feeling when I need a poo and have got that part out the way. Is it normal for the weeing bit though?
After I have a short walk everything feels heavy and I can't do pelvic floor exercises at all then unless I'm sat down.

I'm scared this isn't normal as the lady who came round to do the checks after labor said I would feel after 4 days.

I know that the uncontrollable gas is normal but this is freaking me out.

Please be kind I'm rather scared.

There are several threads in the childbirth section about this very issue.. go take a look.. you will feel less alone.

Hi op, you baby is only a week old and you’ll still be under the care of maternity services. I would can maternity triage at the hospital you delivered at and explain what’s happening to them. Flowers

If it helps, this happened to me, I was shocked. It did rectify itself though over the weeks as my body healed. Definitely speak to your midwife though.

This didn't happen to me first time but did the second. I kept up my pelvic floor exercises and going for a walk everyday (tried to 'engage' my stomach and pelvic floor muscles while walking) It sorted itself out quickly. Do phone the midwives if you're worried though.
Try to rest too. I didn't rest enough / take care of myself after my second episiotomy and ended up with an infection and wound breakdown.

Time will help but discuss with your midwife if they've not yet discharged you and your HV when you see them.

I had a section and had the heavy feeling when walking. I also had no feeling of if and when I needed to wee. I didn't lose control at any point but I did have to remind myself to go else I just couldn't tell that I needed to. DD is nearly 11 months and for the first time this week I could tell I needed to go without pressing my bladder and debating whether I did or didn't for a minute first!

I was kept in hospital for a couple of days after giving birth (also forceps and episiotomy) for this reason. I didn’t have the sensation of needing to wee and I almost overflowed the pot they gave me go in, without having really felt the need to go at all. I think you should definitely mention it to your midwife or GP, as it wasn’t classed as normal for me. Luckily my sensation came back fairly quickly, so they were satisfied that nothing was paralysed etc. Hope yours returns soon.

Congratulations! I'd reccomend speaking to your midwife. I had my first baby five weeks ago (vontuse & tearing). The delivery was very quick due to baby's heart rate dropping, this caused trauma to my bladder.

Was sent back to hospital after four days due to loss of control and no sensation - I've always had really good pelvic floor so wasn't normal for me. They fitted a catheter for a week (not the nicest experience) and gave antibiotics for infection. I was really worried it had caused long term damage but thankfully things are so much better now with only slight pelvic floor weakness. I've been referred to physio for to prevent future issues.

I was told that some loss of control/mild leaking is common with assisted deliveries but it's important it is treated. Hope things improve soon.
