Terrified of surgery

Posting here for traffic and name changed too.

Dh and I have been trying for 3 years to have DC2. No luck.
I've been on clomid and had regular consultations with my gynaecologist.
I have had a cyst in my cervix since I was 27, (I'm 37 now) first noticed during a smear, it was never an issue. I had it drained twice but it kept coming back.
12 o clock - 4 o clock in size at the time.

At my most recent appt it was described as bulbous and protruding upwards and I'm having surgery in 3 weeks time, removal of cyst and examination under anaesthetic.

Aibu to be absolutely petrified? My BMI is high, and I'm so scared I'll die during the procedure and leave my lovely little boy(5). I can't stop thinking about it.

Any advice would be so appreciated.

I understand your anxiety as I used to be the same when I had to have anything done under GA.

I now work in a hospital and realise exactly how many operations are done a day and how extremely rare it is for someone to die under GA.

Firstly if there is any doubt about your fitness for surgery it won't go ahead. Secondly, the procedure you're having is very small and you'll only be under for a short time. Please try not to worry, you'll be fine Flowers

Thank you, I'm trying not to think too much about it. A lone magpie has moved in on our lane and every time I see him trotting down the lane in front of my house I think "well that's it then, I'm fucked" 😫😂

I get very anxious about surgical procedures and I went through a period of having several GAs in time - far more than most people would have in a lifetime and never had any issues (if that reassure statistically!).

My advice is to be upfront about being anxious about it with the medical staff - if they know you are anxious they will act to reassure you. Best of luck, it will be over soon Flowers
