Estate agent discussion

I’m looking to rent out a property ( mum recently passed away). The estate agent came round to look a property and said it would be best to rent out unfurnished and I should paint same colour throughout and same colour carpets throughout. I was hoping to rent out furnished, mum had good taste (Ercol dining suite, sofa hardly used etc) and although the rooms are different colours they are all neutral think hint of green, magnolia, very pale lemon. The carpets are all plain colours but different in each room.
I want to ask AIBU in thinking people wouldn’t have an issue with the decor and AIBU in thinking there are people out there looking for furnished rented property.
For information it’s a 3 bed semi in a good area of Leeds.

Thank you all for your input, it’s been useful to get peoples views. I’m not attached to the furniture in it however thought it might be easier than having to get rid of it all. However the consensus on here seems to be unfurnished so maybe that part is right. The carpets are all good 80% wool and seems both wasteful and ridiculous to remove them and replace with what would probably be cheaper ones if I have to do the whole house. I would change the hall landing and staircase one as that is a little worn on the stairs and mum was looking to replace just before she died.
The jury seems out on the decor. I might see what it’s like once the furniture is all removed. What do people do about curtains? Just thinking that people won’t instantly have the right size even if moving?

@Lou898 curtains/blinds would be something I'd say keep and at least have the written on the inventory. Ours were here when we moved in but we got the landlords permission to put them in clean, organised storage so we could use our own. But we appreciated the use of them in the first few weeks.

I think having different coloured carpets is perfectly normal really, and leaving curtains. If you're concerned you can always indicate if you'd be willing to remove them and see what potential tenants say.

(FWIW, your mother's furniture sounds absolutely lovely and if I were renting, I'd be gutted I couldn't use it, but would also be terrified of damaging it/not keen to get rid of my own.)

I'd keep curtains up. Like you say, they won't necessarily have the right size/ type and curtains are easy for the tenant to store if they replace with their own.

Thank you to those who’ve replied. I’ve found your input really useful.

When I was renting my property I was advised if you rent furnished you tend to get shorter lets as it's people who aren't as established. However that was pre COVID.

I think the decor sounds lovely!
