To make noise in the garden

AIBU to use noisy jet wash at 3pm on a Saturday.

Neighbours are probably happily enjoying the sunshine in peace. I can hear some low volume classical music so they must be out.

... but i'd like to Jet my decking and garden furniture, so we can eat at the outdoor table this evening.

We’re out in our garden chilling, DH watching the football on his phone - I can hear the neighbours doing the same, cheering every now and then I think they’ve got family round. Others playing music and kids in another garden splashing in a pool - you’d come across as an absolute dick around here tbh. Jet washing could have been done at 10/11 this morning. You get it out the way in the morning and then enjoy the weekend and let everyone else enjoy theirs...
Seriously??

What if you were out in the morning so couldn't use a jet wash? Considered a dick for using a jet wash on a Saturday afternoon! Honestly only on Netmums.

Meanwhile, in the real world am listening to someone cutting their grass right now, and people have been using power tools etc all afternoon. Perfectly acceptable weekend noise.

Oh jeez, this is a sign you’ve been on MN too long!! On MN a garden is a thing to look at from inside thus not making a single sound. In real life, people use their garden to do what they want and need unless it’s ridiculously early/late. Crack on, jet wash!
Except if it’s using a hot tub.

Im really fussy about noise. But this should be fine.

And what if someone else wanted to sit in their garden with a coffee at 11 o’clock? What a stupidly self-centred post.

It’s perfectly reasonable to be jet washing on a Saturday afternoon.

Of course. It's 3pm, not 7am.

PinkBlueBerry You are so right. I have just had to come in from garden where DH and were sitting in sun with paperbacks - first time to relax at all, let alone in sunshine, for ages. We did strimming, mowing at 10.30 this morning, but next door neighbour for last hour and a half has been using jet wash to rinse down their ginormous deck - it is unbelievably loud, and he is using it more as a toy than something he needs to do. He has a collection of high powered, extremely noisy gadgets - you name it he has got it the louder the better. Just being able to relax in our back garden for the first time in the weekend sunshine this summer? - No. Not only that but he doesn't work, so could have done this on one of the dry but cloudier days this week. I am fuming.
How the fuck is he supposed to know you wanted to read at 3pm? Maybe another neighbour’s quiet Saturday garden breakfast was ruined by your thoughtless 10.30 strimming…

Why is this even a question?

bunnytheegghunter · 12/06/2021 22:08

I wanted to jet wash m my garden yesterday but next door were in the garden with the kids so I waited till they had gone in at 7 I was still going at 10 😱 I didn't realise how late it was but had jet washed the whole garden and fences. I felt guilty but then thought no I was being considerate by not doing it when they were using the garden it wasn't my fault they were out there all afternoon.

EnfieldRes · 13/06/2021 11:01

Three hours of jet washing? It's very loud so that seems very inconsiderate.

Far better to have done it in the garden during the day when they were making noise anyway. Kids are hardly going to mind when they're busy playing and making noise themselves.

Using the machine till 10pm would have been a PITA for all your neighbours especially those trying to get DC off to sleep. YWBU.
