I'm unsure what to do. This afternoon, I received a text message from my local chemist informing me that my prescription was going to be delivered. I'm caring for a six week old so didn't pay much attention. Later on this afternoon, a bag arrived with the following: Zapain, Amitryptilene, Dihydracodeine and a massive bottle of Oramorph. I do have a pain condition so have been on these recently. However, only the Zapain and the Amitryptilene are on my repeat prescription list. The rest are not. I've not requested any new medication and I'm concerned that such a large amount of strong painkillers can be dispensed without speaking to a doctor. My partner thinks I should just keep it and do nothing else. I think I should report it as these combined are enough for someone to overdose. There was 500ml of the Oramorph, 100 Zapain, 30 Amitryptilene and 60 Codeine.

I just found it alarming that so much would be dispensed at the same time and without me requesting it.

YABU - don't report it
YANBU - report it.

Contact the pharmacy. They will liaise with the GP. It's really serious on their end if they've sent out the wrong meds so they will double check the prescription.

Could be the dispenser accidentally put the wrong labels on the wrong boxes but prescriptions are supposed to be double checked by pharmacist before going to patient.

Contact the pharmacy they will have procedures to deal with it if it is an error.

Thank you all. I will speak to the pharmacy on Monday and return the items. I'm hoping that it isn't someone else's meds as it all had my details plus every item was something I've had prescribed in the last six weeks. I did check Patient Access in case I'd been hacked but there's nothing on there. It's the Oramorph that I find particularly troubling as it does have to be countersigned. I do think it's irresponsible to send out so many opiates by mistake.
