To not finish a meal somebody has bought me?

This afternoon I went out for tea with a friend, today was on them as I paid last time.

We each had a starter and a main.

I got half way through my main and hit a wall, couldn't possibly stomach any more. If I forced it down I would have undoubtedly been sick. I'm pregnant and a bit queasy as it is.

Friend was really shocked I only ate half of the main, made a few light hearted comments like I should take it home and have it in a sandwich later as she she never let's food go to waste.

Was I rude not to finish the meal even if I physically couldn't?

I was starving when we got there, I'd only had two buttered crumpets all day and they were for breakfast. I skipped lunch because I knew we were eating out and didn't want to fill up in advance.

We always do a starter and main when we go for dinner and it has never been an issue before that I can recall.

It honestly didn't occur to ask for a doggy back, I never have done, but then I don't usually leave half my meal.

I'm pregnant, hot and knackered which together affected my appetite today.

I apologised for not finishing and explained why, it's just the fact there were multiple comments about it that made me worry I came across rude.

I did offer to pay btw, she wouldn't hear of it.
