Roman blinds… help for a novice owner please

Not Aibu but need traffic so I know whether to reject these or not.

I bought a made to measure roman blind online, not expensive but not exactly cheap either, and specified blackout lining.

They have just arrived and I think the reverse looks crap, but don’t know if this is how they are supposed to look.

The lining is cut and sewn at each rod pocket. I kind of expected a totally covered reverse?

Help appreciated!

That's normal, sure if there was a layer of material over the "strings" it would bunch when you pull them up.

Here's a pic of the back of ours which were made by a reputable local company. I intend on using the online ones (Blinds2Go etc) in our new house though.

They are rod pockets sewn on. I make mine with a continuous piece of lining folded into pockets. That way you dont get any stitches through to the front of the blind.
Yours are normal tho - just the easy (cheap) method

I’ve since seen online the cheaper sewn on rod pocket rather than the continuous by searching images.

But mine are not even this... the lining is actually cut on each side of the rod pocket. So rather than the stripe of the rod holder, there is a raw cut multi layered seam at each rod?

Yeah idk. That looks like the blackout lining. Perhaps the maching wouldn't go thru that.
Are they for downstairs?

No upstairs lilythemink

Going in the spare bedroom for granddaughters sleepovers.

I’m now thinking, well it won’t be visible from outside as upstairs. But to me, it just looks half cut because of the raw edges.

I have made my own roman blinds with blackout lining and the needle holes allow tiny chinks of light through. I can’t quite make out what they’ve done on yours but I wonder whether it’s an attempt to get proper blackout coverage? I might be being generous. Otherwise it looks like someone made them forgetting the lining then added it later 🤔

I haven't a clue as the why they have cut the lining (though it probably won't fray)

There are so many variables with roman blinds, I have use the bought rod channels, made my own out of same fabric and also used it folded like previous pp described

Have they seperated the chain cord though ?
