To detest a shopper in the queue behind me?

So, I’m in the store where you’ll find kevin the carrot and there are lots of folk queuing to pay for their shopping.

Anyway, behind me is a chap (1) joined by a different chap (2) and they begin chit chatting away.
Chap 1 asks chap 2 what he’s up to after getting his 3 items to which he replies, “going home to my miserable wife”.

Straight away I can’t stand him and i’m very tempted to give him a piece of my mind?

AIBU to feel so enraged on her behalf, bearing in mind I don’t know either of them or am I unexpectedly hormonal?!! Confused

why don't you just mind your own business?

Slipperrr · 11/06/2021 21:29

What would you have said to him? Confused

wearenearlythere1 · 11/06/2021 21:30

Maybe she is miserable because she is sick or she is pregnant and overdue? Loads of reasons a normal person could be miserable.

@SmidgenofaPigeon

He might just be being a prick but my friend’s wife is REALLY miserable. Honestly I’ve never met a person more joyless. When we met at the pub for a meal a couple of weekends ago she brought a book, and really didn’t talk to anybody, and drank suds water, and told off my friend for having a pudding, because there was ‘no need’.
She's a mumsnetter.
Merciess · 11/06/2021 21:36

Username makes sense ...

CustardySergeant · 11/06/2021 21:36

@Nesbo

Would you have felt angry at a woman complaining about going home to her miserable husband? If not you presumably think all women are saints and mustn’t be criticised.
I wondered the same thing.
PixieDust28 · 11/06/2021 21:37

@myfuckingfreezer

How do you know he hasn't got it really hard at home and is in a bad place due to his wife?
This, exactly.
PenguinIce · 11/06/2021 21:41

This might have been my husband and in his defence (if it was) I have been a miserable cow for the last couple of weeks. After 20 odd years of marriage I have come to realise that there will be times both me and my husband will not be at our best. If having a little moan about it helps then so be it.

I am always more suspicious of the couples who are always ‘publicly’ so in love.

WorraLiberty · 11/06/2021 21:50

Yet another utterly ridiculous post, blaming hormones 🙄🙄

This sort of thing really doesn't do women any favours.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/06/2021 21:50

I know a lot of miserable women, they must be joyless to live with.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/06/2021 21:53

Oh and I’d be more pissed off with the woman in the queue probably not paying attention to what’s happening as she posts pointless comments on the tinternet.

stayathomer · 11/06/2021 21:57

and drank suds water
This made me think 'snapped and farted'GrinGrinGrin

Seesawmummadaw · 11/06/2021 22:00

Such excitement!

shouldistop · 11/06/2021 22:03

Am I not allowed to type A*di?
Maybe she is miserable?

Bloodypunkrockers · 11/06/2021 22:36

@vodkaredbullgirl

Oh dear lol, probably miserable as they have to live with them having to watch 2020.
Wtf

Cos women don't watch football?

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/06/2021 22:47

@Bloodypunkrockers, of course women can watch footie.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 11/06/2021 22:51

I didn't realise Kevin the carrot survived Christmas.
what's he up to nowadays OP?

Backupthebus · 11/06/2021 23:19

Pretend he’s here now and share with us all “your piece of mind” honestly this is priceless 🤣

StillCoughingandLaughing · 12/06/2021 10:10

If some stranger felt the need to give me ‘a piece of her mind’ in the supermarket, I’d hand it straight back to her, on the basis that she couldn’t afford to give away the few pieces she had left.

drpet49 · 12/06/2021 10:23

* He might just be being a prick but my friend’s wife is REALLY miserable. Honestly I’ve never met a person more joyless.*

^Yep, I know 2 wives like this. I always wonder what the husbands see in them.
