To worry that something else is going on re DS illness

I've posted here a couple of times recently as my DS has been poorly. He got croup last week and ended up in hospital as he needed the dose of steroids. They sent him home and said he should be fine within a week. That was ten days ago. Since then he's still had this barking cough, not eating his food (maybe eats one meal a day whereas he normally never stops eating and has been quite grizzly) no temperatures or anything though.
Then today he had his normal 1 nap this morning but seemed really tired after lunch so I decided to put him down for another. He got up at 2pm and since then has been barely able to keep his eyes open, only wants to lie down, won't eat or drink anything, has a temperature and is as pale as a ghost. Spoke to the gp over the phone who said it's probably that he is tired from the cough so has given him some steroids but I'm still worried. Would he really develop another temp and have gone really off in the space of a few hours when he's had the bug since last Monday? Or am I being unreasonable to not just take the drs word for it?

Glad he’s better. There’s been reports of whooping cough making the rounds with little ones - if you’re not happy with his progress for any reason take him to a and e. Always better safe than sorry. I’m not saying he has/ will develope this. Just not many people
Aware of it.

What a relief! Hope he’s fully recovered very soon.
