No

OrangeRug · 11/06/2021 15:30

If you genuinely enjoy it then no but if you feel like you have to and feel excessively guilty if you don't go then I'd try to cut back a bit before it takes over.

Gymhairdontcare · 11/06/2021 15:30

Even when you have a child?

Is this one of these vaguemumsnetting posts?

Ask what you want to ask

nimbuscloud · 11/06/2021 15:31

How long is each class?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/06/2021 15:34

Depends on the impact on others. I used to go every morning after school drop off. Impacted no one.

Expecting others to cover for you is different.

Moonshine11 · 11/06/2021 15:34

Assuming this is what your DP does 😂

Aquamarine1029 · 11/06/2021 15:36

If this puts extra burden on the other parent and keeps you from doing your fair shares, yes, it's too much.

AuntieStella · 11/06/2021 15:36

Probably not, but what do you ask?

Notaroadrunner · 11/06/2021 15:36

Is your partner going to the gym 6 days a week leaving you to do the parenting, housework etc? If so you need to reach a comporomise whereby you both get time to do your hobbies while the other stays with the child.

Gymhairdontcare · 11/06/2021 15:41

I go to the gym 6 days a week I've only just started and wondered if it was a bit much because I'm knackered 😂

OP posts:
ProbablyProbing · 11/06/2021 15:41

This completely depends.
This is very excessive if you're expecting DH to look after the kids the whole time but refuse to allow him to go to the gym ever because there's no time.
This is not at all excessive if you and DH won the lottery and therefore neither of you work and you're childless.
Whether it's excessive or not depends on the impact on everyone around you and the rest of your time management. In terms of exercise itself, 6 hours each week is nowhere near excessive. Consider that many people work manual/physical jobs for 40 hours each week.

You're knackered because you've just started - your body will get used to it if you stick at it.
Moonshine11 · 11/06/2021 15:43

For just starting out yes it’s a lot tbh.
Ease yourself in

Gymhairdontcare · 11/06/2021 15:43

I go in the morning before they are up. Partner also does a sport 4 times a week

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 11/06/2021 15:44

Are you enjoying it? Is it causing any problems anywhere?

It isn’t compulsory to go six times a week. It’s totally up to you. There’s no right or wrong.

How long have you been doing it?

It sounds like beginner’s enthusiasm and maybe you’ll settle down to three or four times a week. It is important to have rest days.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/06/2021 15:47

Have you had training advice?

anon12345678901 · 11/06/2021 15:49

Not excessive, but you may find it easier to ease in to 6 days. I go between 5-6 days, 1 rest day off is enough for your body generally, but it all depends on how you feel. If you feel like you need a day off to recover/rest, then take it. The most important thing is to listen to your body 😊

Chickychickydodah · 11/06/2021 15:55

I’d start lower and work to more days if you feel better. Being knackered all the time is no fun for you or your family

Lolalovesroses · 11/06/2021 16:00

It depends what your goal is and what type of training you are doing.

ChristmasFluff · 11/06/2021 17:55

6 days obviously doesn't suit you - exercise should leave you energised not exhausted.

Maybe use one day for the sauna, jacuzzi or whatever? Or do yoga, weights, or a stretch class rather than cardio.

Work with your body - it is not the enemy. Listen to it.

LeopardHawk · 11/06/2021 17:56

I've done 5-7 days a week for about six years now. Lockdown was tough.Sad

DowntownFrown · 11/06/2021 18:27

A few years ago I got gym obsessed and went at least 10 times a week - a few days I went twice, one day a week I went three times. My DC were asleep or at school or in bed so they weren’t affected in that way but I was so tired, sore and grumpy that when I was around I wasn’t adding anything to their lives. Anyway… long story short I now train 5/6 days a week but ensure I don’t overdo it so I have the energy to have fun with my DC.
