Stepping down in work

So I have decided to step down from a promoted role in work. It's not been an easy year, and I don't mean because of covid. There's a distinct lack of support and changes being brought in where the impact has not been thought through.

So
YABU to state all the reasons I'm stepping down

Or
YANBU to not state the reasons as I have to still work there?

I'm not quite clear, are you asking whether you should tell your employer why you dont want the promoted job?

Impossible to say really without knowing anything about your work situation

Will they ask you? Is there something they could have done better? Is there any benefit/disbenefit to telling? Too many unknowns

I would either bring the issues into the open in the hope of having them dealt with or I would quietly step down. What I wouldn’t do is use stepping down as the platform to air my complaints as I don’t think it would be taken as seriously.

If I decided that I didn’t want to champion the issues and preferred a quieter life, then I would step down and put a positive spin on it, along the work - life balance route.

I think you have to state the issues as otherwise it looks like you couldn't hack it. This is their problem, not yours.

Be prepared that you may find yourself wanting to look elsewhere though.

You may not want to state all the issues, but I think you should consider saying why. I hope you get an understanding response.

Is there an option to step down though - does your old role still exist?
I don’t think YABU for not wanting the promoted job but be sure there is a role for you before doing so formally. And agree that you should communicate on why - would you still want the role if the issues were addressed and do you have any solutions you can present along with your reasons? Good luck OP.

My original role is still there. My cover is likely to be made permanent as there are a number of vacancies. In the team.

I was previously on condensed hours and when I stepped up the number of days I worked increased. My pay went up too but not enough to cover the increased travel and childcare expenses. I was aware before that this would be the case.

I had hoped to help with stability in the team and on being made permanent negotiate better pay having proven myself in the role.

The senior management have a very everyone is replaceable attitude and while that's true it requires time, stability and effort to get new staff up to speed and this is taking a toll on the staff that have been in the department long term. I have put forward a proposal to try to fix these issues but this is above what is expected of me in my promoted role.
