I’m at the Theatre

Harold Pinter Theatre. Which is really nice.

Apart from

It’s 90 minutes long without an interval, you can’t go out and come back in. (I am because I’m pregnant and impressed upon them that I won’t last that long without a wee) I booked a stalls aisle seat for this reason.

You have to keep a mask on. All the time. It’s hot. Unless you have a drink. I’m not drinking anything because of above reason.

The queues for the toilets is more nuts than normal, because only five people can go in at a time.

On the plus side it’s nice not to have to sit next to anyone.

Just wanted to share really Grin it’s great to be here but it’s a loooong way from feeling ‘normal’.

Well thank you for volunteering for the experiment! Hope the play ('Walden'?) was worth the effort?

I'm not yet tempted. Currently watching an online opera ...

We went to the theatre last week. The performance was fine but I hated the whole experience. Seat bubbles separated for social.distancing totally killing the general atmosphere. Not being able to have a pre performance drink in the bar. Having to wear a mask throughout. Repeated tannoy announcements reminding us of Covid regs etc and it was still ridiculously expensive. I do not like this new normal so will not be going again until it changes back to how it used to be.

I would LOVE not to have to sit next to anyone at the theatre. Maybe I'll go to a show!

KarmaStar · 10/06/2021 22:25

This is Mn, where people post about being brave enough to venture to the cinema alone.

Is the play any good?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/06/2021 23:36

@GloriousMystery
It was pretty good, intense, just one set for the whole thing. Interesting themes though. I didn’t think it was worth the standing ovation it got from some, but I think people were just happy to be watching a performance again.

I'm going on Sunday (not to anything cultural... West End celebration of musicals, as DS2 is autistic and obsessed with musicals) It may be different to usual, but I am just SO glad we can start returning to the theatre!!!

I’ve been to the theatre twice in the last couple of weeks. I really liked it. I don’t mind the masks on all the time. Socially distanced seating means your view isn’t blocked by people directly in front of you, so that’s a plus. I’m going to take advantage and book some more tickets for things.

Fair enough. I thoughts it sounded ropy enough from the reviews, but I can imagine just thinking ‘ACTORS, STAGE, AUDIENCE!!’ as everyone’s so sick of streamed stuff.

I'm booked for HAMILTON later this year, it's over 2 hours long so I'm hoping we have the usually interval
