To ask for ideas for a 'small child/toddler' bucket list of things to do now we can?

DD is 2 1/2 and I'm pregnant with number 2. Last weekend we went to a farm with a petting zoo type place and it blew her mind. The weekend before we took her to a supermarket for the first time since the pandemic, and she had a ball sitting in the trolley seat (we've been having supermarket deliveries or going solo). She has never been in a swimming pool.

I'm trying to do a list of 'new experiences' to do one a weekend with her now things are opening up. I don't imagine we'll do a far away holiday this year, but its basically started me thinking about things I'd like to do with her/her future sister while they're still small, basically under 6 or so.

So what would be on your small child/toddler bucket list?

I'd like to take her camping. I'd like to take her on a bus and a train. I'd like to take her to Peppa pig world (this may have to wait till next year). I have planted some seedlings that will hopefully become vegetables.

Do you have ideas of other things a small child would love? They can be free/cheap/aspirational, I would quite like to go on a 'proper' holiday but one she'd enjoy next year. I got so much joy seeing her on the farm, I want to do more things like that.

Ooh yes, childrens theatre production. I'm taking my slightly older DD to the Ballet, she's going to love it.

Live music. I remember my DD dancing away to a singer in a restaurant on holiday, she loved it so much.

Beach trip.

Soft play???

A childrens party/bouncy castle.

Go to a trampoline place like Rush. Sometimes they run toddler sessions during the week when older kids are at school where the little ones have the run of the place.

Go on a boat trip/bus/train ride. Steam train is fun and often geared towards children.

Aquarium was also much enjoyed.

Family party/barbecue.

A sleepover with grandparents and cousins

We happened to go on a bus the other day, my (recently turned) 3 year old was absolutely beaming, she loved it. She was chatting non-stop about how it was big, and bumpy, and asked lots of questions about why it stopped and what the bells were. I hadn't realised that she hadn't been on a bus since she was 1. It used to be a weekly occurrence, at least.

  • Pick-your-own. Lots of fun for them and you, and I think it helps them to be more adventurous eaters, especially if you go to one which does a variety of fruit and veg.

  • Cinema. They do often do early showings of young kid friendly stuff. Depends on whether you have the sort of 2 year old that would sit through it. Did this the other day, and the 3 year old was utterly amazed at how big the room was, and so excited about the 3-4 sweeties she got. Saw Peter Rabit 2.
