So annoyed why do people do this sort of thing ?

Booked a cleaner to start this week, she messaged yesterday to confirm and her address etc.

Told me she does covid tests x2 a week

She didn’t turn up ….. then messaged to say she hadn’t had her covid test result (lateral flow takes 39 mins?) that she would be here as soon as had her result ….
Didn’t turn up i messaged to see what was happening ….
Nothing ….

This has happened before that I’ve booked a cleaner and they text just after the arrival time to cancel ? I’m fed up of it and today has really annoyed me.

Well I suppose it is what it is 🤷‍♀️ Just frustrating and has me questioning myself as it’s happened before and I can’t see why

our cleaner had been coming for about 6m then fell ill and had to cancel all of her newer jobs (inc us), fair enough.

the new one we booked insisted on a nonrefundable deposit because she got fed up with people cancelling last minute - ummm I kinda get it but how can she expect people not to cancel if they test positive & have to isolate on short notice?!
urgh. anyway, reluctantly we paid.

she didn't bloody turn up🤣 ironic much?
she did give the money back but didn't book her again.

2 more people never got back to us, another cancelled the day before.
Can't seem to find a reliable agency or person. I might start paying the kids...

I can’t work out is it me or is it just issues with this type of service as I’ve booked various other things and had no issues such as gardener or window cleaner, bin cleaning and decorating and diy etc but I’m coming up against problems when trying to employ a cleaner

it's not you.
it's quite hard to find a good one.
we had an amazing one for years before she moved away.
I didn't have to pre-clean the house. she came in and got on with it. if picking up toys meant she ran out of time to do floors that was fine. neither of us cared about that.
anything she did was stuff I didn't have to do and wouldn't have been able to do.
we had 5 boys under 11 and a newborn DD with feeding problems and so sometimes she'd send me to have a shower and looked after DD😁 she was the very best. beyond being efficient and reliable she was a fantastic person. I really miss her.
