I think this is shocking! How can you believe the reviews on Amazon if they've all been bought in this manner? AIBU to contact Trading Standards (or whoever) about this? Can't believe they actually do this.

This has happened to me this week. I bought a projector that was supposed to come with a screen, was in the title and description that the screen was included. It arrived with no screen but a slip of paper saying we could have £20 cash back, a screen, some other tat if we completed a 5 review! I was gobsmacked. I was also fuming because a key component which was advertised wasn't included, but then also I was held to ransom to complete a 5 review before I got what I ordered.
Amazon said they have not come across this before (ha ha!) But will take it seriously so have refunded me and I can return the projector to them. So wrong.

I've just had one of these today! £30 for a 5* review for a £10 solar fountain that doesn't work. Confused

Tbh it looked dodgy to me so I just chucked it in the recycling.

I like the word 'wellibobs'

corlan · 08/06/2021 21:37

Had similar on Trustpilot - email from a company asking me what they could offer me to remove bad review. Told Trustpilot and they were not in the least interested!

XenoBitch · 08/06/2021 21:38

I had one this week. Item was £23, and the card was for £15. TBH, I would have given the item 5 stars anyway, but I could not be bothered with the faff of leaving a review (I never have), taking a screenshot etc

LeopardHawk · 08/06/2021 22:34
**@leopardhawk* and @MasterBeth*... Yeah take the stupid name up with joules. Of course I didn't just decide to call them that. Hmm. AFAIK their normal wellies are fine so I didn't want to slander the wrong item. 😁
Thank you for clarifying. I retract my earlier comment (although still giving you a bit of side eye for even buying a product with that name) Wink

CovidCorvid · 08/06/2021 22:37

Yes, the stupid name should have alerted me to the shitness of the product! Grin

Hax · 08/06/2021 22:39

Yes I've been offered £50 for a 5* review. I was annoyed because I had been swayed by reviews. Reported to Amazon and got a very good response, they said they would ban the seller.

randomkey123 · 08/06/2021 22:58

I take Amazon reviews with a massive pinch of salt now, after having a £15 gift card offered for a crap product.

TooManyCuntsSpoilTheBroth · 08/06/2021 23:09

@SchrodingersImmigrant

Shocking😂 No. It's pretty common, but man! I only had tenners offered.

As with all reviews anywhere, they have to be taken with a pinch of salt. I honestly don't think TS would do anything

I don't think it's common at all. I mean, I have been offered gifts in exchange for a review but never specifically '5 stars' that is wrong and completely dishonest.
MissCruellaDeVil · 08/06/2021 23:09

I get stuff like this all the time! I always leave reviews, but not always positive. I have found some of the "most negative" reviews don't get accepted! It's censorship at its best...

NutNutmum · 08/06/2021 23:18

I had this for £15, i left a review got my £15 voucher off them. Spent it then deleted my review,. reported them to Amazon as its against selling rules and returned the item as faulty and got my money back.
