DS is 18 months and has had an on off temp over the last couple of days as well as FIVE teeth coming through at once. GP has advised it’s probably teeth but has said to keep him away from other kids just incase, fair enough, we are booked for a PCR this afternoon but isolating until we get that result.

So park is out as are classes. It’s so hot here already I think the garden is going to be out until later today, as we are south facing and it’s a total heat trap even in the shade. I am going to get the paddling pool out and the water play activities for later after his nap but I’m stuck with what to do with him inside!

We have already read books, played with Tupperware, watched a bit of TV, watered the plants in the garden while it was cool. He’s currently playing with a puzzle and shape sorter but will get bored of that in approx 30 seconds HELP

because he’s been stuck in for the last few days and is feeling a bit better now he’s climbing the walls so even harder to entertain than usual!

Have you got a bucket and a paintbrush? Take him out the front where it is less sunny and let him paint the house/path, etc and watch it disappear.
Pipe cleaners/laces/string through a colander kept mine busy at that age. I used to let them chalk on our tiled floor too, it just wiped off.

Don't suppose you have a karcher window vacuum? I used to pour water onto the floor and let DS suck it up with the karcher. Occupied him for ages.

Other things mine liked: painting (messy but then they had a sink bath after so that passed more time), pulling all the books off the shelf and reading them all, bouncing on the bed together, trying on all the costume jewellery in my jewellery box, chalking on the outside wall/floor, pretending to cook with dried rice and pasta and all the pots and pans, having a kiddie disco.

Fill a box with soapy water and let him give his cars/babies/dinosaurs/whatever a wash and dry.

Stick some songs on Alexa and have a little dance. Teach him to moves to head shoulders knees and toes and row row row your boat

wash teddy bears in the bath & hang them out to dry

make ice cream?

SaltAndVinegarSandwiches · 08/06/2021 10:40

Get out some pots and pans and wooden spoons etc. Mine both loved playing with 'real' kitchen stuff.

Get a washing up trayor similar and put some rice/flour in it and give him a few toy dump trucks to play with.

Stick a piece of uncooked spaghetti into a play dough and see if he can thread cheerios onto it.

'Paint' with water on the patio or outside wall (if possible)

Tear up pieces of paper
Stand at the top of the stairs and drop balls down to watch them bounce
Wash up lots of plastic things
Wash the windows
Dust everywhere
Finger painting
Take a bath.
Put a duvet on the floor and roll around, hide under it
Make a den with chairs and blankets
Watch TV

You can make your life playdough if you have flour and salt, google the recipe. If you have any balloons, they always keep my DS occupied. Building a Fort, pouring rice between different containers. Baking?

PatchworkBlanket · 08/06/2021 10:53

Songs, reading books, dancing, teddy bear's picnic, baking buns, drawing, make a den, playing with a ball, watching for birds in the garden, spotting flowers and going through colours, helping you clean up or dressing up are all fun to be do 😊
