To think it's a bit early for Jurassic World to be on TV?

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been on ITV2 since 5pm. Now I'm not particularly concerned about this, I'm not going to start emailing ITV to complain or anything, but I do think it's a wee bit early in the day.

Jurassic Park came out when I was about 7 and I remember being really scared and having nightmares. The Jurassic World films are even more scary! Because I've seen them I know not to put them on for DS but it's not beyond the realms of imagining that someone who hasn't seen it might think oh a nice family film about dinosaurs and put it on for their young children only to frighten the life out of them?

Am I being precious? Are Jurassic World films fine for the whole family on a wet Saturday afternoon?

You’re being precious.

PerditaCambellBlack · 05/06/2021 18:13

You are being precious

You can turn it off if you don’t want to watch it

I did say I haven't turned it on Hmm

No one has to watch it. I think most people know what the films are about by now and its easy to check the age rating if you have a sensitive child.

lovingllamaa · 05/06/2021 18:17

It’s a 12, isn’t it? Most people would check that before putting it on for young children

Hadjab · 05/06/2021 18:19

I did say I haven't turned it on

With the greatest of respect, OP, what’s the point of the post then? Most parents are capable of policing what their kids watch, much like you’ve policed yourself by not switching it on. Also, what scared you as a seven year old may have a completely different effect on today’s kids 🤷🏼‍♀️

DenimDrift · 05/06/2021 18:19

unless you've been under a rock most people know of the jurassic world films and their content

Feelingbad2 · 05/06/2021 18:20

My 4 year old loves these films 🙈

Just interested in what other people thought! Seems I'm the only one who was terrified by these films as a child. Which is weird because we used to watch nightmare on elm street and stuff when we were ridiculously young and I was fine with that.

I think I might be a massive scaredy fanny if your 4 year old is braver than me Grin

@JewelGarden 😂😂😂

He’s a strange child his favourite film when he was 2 was Nightmare Before Christmas 💀

MyMabel · 05/06/2021 18:24

It’s my favourite film and has been since young.

You don’t have to watch it, and like you say you didn’t turn it on. So why ruin the fun for the other people who aren’t such a wuss over prehistoric animals l?Wink

Are you the same poster who moaned about the love honey advent on after the watershed, after deciding to let her children stay up past this time watching TV?

BrownEyedGirl80 · 05/06/2021 18:25

Ds watched it at 3yrs

Dollywilde · 05/06/2021 18:27

Actually as a general rule I think little ones find scary quite funny! It’s when you get to the middling age that they don’t like it. My 5 year old nephew adores ‘jumpy’ movies but they can’t put them on because his 10 year old sister will have nightmares.

I think YABU. Maybe back in the day before we had the ability to look stuff up but it’s so easy to check the content of a film before putting it on now, with a quick Google, it’s on the parents.

My five year old loves all the Jurassic park films, hes probably watching right now with Grandma.

Lots of things on TV would be a 12 rating if you think about it, lots of early TV shows have violence, disasters etc.

Yorkshirepudding1987 · 05/06/2021 18:36

Our 3 year old loves all the Jurassic Park/ World films.

Pinkblueberry · 05/06/2021 18:43

Edited versions of films can go on before watershed. So a 12 can be edited to a pg or sometimes just parts of it. Titanic is sometimes shown early and it’s sans Kate Winslet’s breasts - they all and sink and die after kids have gone to bed though.

This really made me laugh Grin
Actually now you mention it I think I've seen Harry Potter on at this time of the day with a bit of the darker stuff edited out of the later films.

My 2 year old is dinosaur mad and won’t watch cartoon dinosaurs. She asked for Jurassic world most days 🤦🏼‍♀️

beeloubee · 05/06/2021 18:48

I agree. I hate those films anyway. Too gory and sensationalist, I found them disturbing tbh.

Cadent · 05/06/2021 19:07

Your perspective is really screwed up if you were scared by JP but fine with Nightmare on Elm Street.

YABU. It’s called Parental Guidance for a reason!

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 05/06/2021 19:20

ITV often edit a lot of the scary / rude stuff out of films so they can show them earlier. This and the constant adverts make them unwatchable anyway!

Smokeymirror · 05/06/2021 19:24

I always thought those films were mainly aimed at 8 year old boys ! Great fun tho

MorganKitten · 05/06/2021 19:26

It’s a PG13/12A and is probably the TV edited version.
