Do the company accept credit cards or debit cards? If they do you can call them to tell you how to give the payment. If not then you have to pay by bank transfer.

Either way it’s up to the company so call them and ask. Best of luck.

You can't. Sort code and account number is for bank transfer.

You could ring them and ask if it's possible to pay by credit card but they may not have the facilities to do so

PotteringAlong · 05/06/2021 10:46

I agree. You cannot pay by credit card like that. Ring and ask them if they have the facility to accept them.

nannynick · 05/06/2021 10:48

Generally you cannot do that. The company wants payment via bank transfer, which you can do from a bank current account using online banking, telephone banking or going in branch.

Credit card companies used to offer credit cheques, these are a cash advance so have very high interest. I don't think they are provided anymore.

If you need credit to pay the bill rather than just preferring to pay by credit card for another reason then you may find your credit card has an offer of a cash transfer which would mean it pays cash into your bank account. My Barclay card usually has an offer like that at about 2% fee and 0% interest for a set period. Obviously you'd have to check whether you have such a offer available though. Or just withdraw cash from ATM using the credit card and pay it into your bank account then pay the bill. Neither of these options are ideal if you just wanted the protection offered by paying by credit card though as they attract fees/interest and aren't immediate.

NursieBernard · 05/06/2021 11:06

You can't pay it with a credit card using that method. Phone them and see if they can take payment over the phone using your credit card or do a cash transfer from your credit card into your current account (not all credit cards offer this facility).

It's my daughters BF business so I will just ask him.

I need to pay by credit card as I have ran out of savings and need to pay him £3000.

Oversight..🙄

I could save the money, in a few months and pay him and I know he would be ok with it, but I feel bad.

Could you get a new credit card that allows money transfer to your bank account? Look for offers for new applicants on moneysaving expert. Then you should get an interest free period of up to a year or more to pay it off.

Good idea
