Anyone have any idea what these weird bumps are? I've got them on both arms and on my chest and they're spreading. They appeared 3 days ago after obviously catching the sun (I know tut). I don't want to waste a doctor's appointment if they're nothing. They're tingly and fairly itchy. I've taken antihistamines but no difference!

They look like blisters, don't they? Were they worse on the day you got sunburn?

LIZS · 04/06/2021 18:38

Looks like some kind of reaction, like nettle rash or perhaps a reaction to sap or caterpillars if you have been in the garden.

chipsandpeas · 04/06/2021 18:38

looks like prickly heat to me

m00rfarm · 04/06/2021 18:39

No idea. I had them a month ago after I was in the sun. I put Elizabeth Arden moisturising cream on part of my skin to see if it made a difference and those disappeared after a few days. So I put it o the other part and now I’m fine. Not really helpful. Sorry.

Kissandjust · 04/06/2021 18:39

Blisters after sun burn it’s quite common especially if you burned badly

supercritter · 04/06/2021 18:40

Maybe sun allergy

NC276 · 04/06/2021 18:40

Yes I thought they were blisters to start but I've stayed out the sun and they're spreading further down my arms and chest.

I have indeed been in the garden a lot. Any tips on how to get rid of it? @LIZS. Thank you both by the way Smile.

Obvs not a doctor. Always seek medical advice etc etc

IMO

Those look like blisters from sunburn. I got them once on my back after windsurfing with my top stupidly down. Hurt like fuck and then they burst, dried out and sloughed off.

Have since had a mole removed from the exact area for suspicious changes so short term: probably fine. In the longer term... keep an eye on it.

VaguelyInteresting · 04/06/2021 18:42

They do take time to come out, btw, and in my case it was over a few days.xx

NC276 · 04/06/2021 18:51

Oh thank you @VaguelyInteresting I do feel silly on the getting burnt. Although really wasn't badly burnt, not painful or anything. They're not painful lumps either, more tingly and itchy. Not looking forward to them potentially bursting!

Get yourself some prickly heat cream and also read up about it as you’ll more than likely get it again x

It is helpful! Although I don't have Elizabeth Arden moisturising cream 🙈.

Aloa Vera is the best for sunburn. The gel. Not from forever though!

I miss going abroad and bringing home big tubs for €3!

FromageRay · 04/06/2021 19:01

Heat rash? I get something like heat rash but more blistery like you describe, mine has been diagnosed as polymorphic light eruption (PMLE) www.nhs.uk/conditions/polymorphic-light-eruption/

Hydrocortisone cream helps. Oddly a really hot shower helps with the itching for me.

thesunwillout · 04/06/2021 19:02

@salcombebabe

If that's where u live I live not far from there.

Captainrachy · 04/06/2021 19:35

Prickly heat. I suffer from it and polymorphic light eruption. It is awful. You have my sympathies. Mine appears sometimes straight away, sometimes two/three days later. I’m yet to find anything that a) prevents it or b) fixes it. Best solutions are aloe Vera after sun, Thai snake powder and a tepid shower if it is really itchy. It makes my skin feel like it’s crawling. I absolutely hate it (but love the sun Sad).

Captainrachy · 04/06/2021 19:39

@FromageRay does the hydrocortisone work well? I have only had urea cream and betnovate from the Dr, both not as strong. Difficult to get dr to take it seriously to be honest. Mostly because I have to wait so long for an appt that the worst of it is over.

Oh my goodness. This could well be it.

And yes @Captainrachy skin crawling is literally it. It's driving me nuts!

Polymorphic light eruption

FrankieDettol · 04/06/2021 20:18

Could also be Folliculitis. You need to see a pharmacist or a GP.

Aloe vera is actually very drying and will make sunburn or heat rash feel even more uncomfortable.

OP, try calamine lotion.

NC276 · 04/06/2021 20:32

Calamine lotion! What my mum lathered me in when I had chicken pox. I can almost feel the itch dying. Thank you! @suspiria777.

Yes, I'll pop to the pharmacy tomorrow @FrankieDettol. Although reading up on it, it does sound like what Captainrachy said. Like blisters but not. And it's really not painful, just tingly and itchy.
