Common Dude Behaviour- telling people what to do

This is not a TAAT honestly, albeit inspired by a thread by an OP being told rather than asked things. I'm wondering as I'm in the middle of two conversation threads online with men, both of them tell me to do stuff.

'Download X App and message me on there in the Morning.'
'You read my message. You didn't reply. Message me back now'

........ad nauseum.

I was brought up to ask people things not tell them. Is this because I have a vagina and it's what girls/women ought to do.
Are men generally brought up to just tell people what To do?

The thing is it's bloody rude IMO. Why can't they see it???

Had to read your OP a few times as it was a bit hard to follow.

I haven't experienced this myself, male colleagues and friends ask me to do things the same way they ask their male friends.

Socialisation plays a huge part and the traits seen as a positive thing in men are usually viewed negatively in women.

A man who is forthright in his opinion and expects a certain standard from others is usually seen as direct, a go-getter, plain speaking, confident, competent, a leader, etc. A woman doing the same is usually seen as bossy, shrill, rude, know-it-all, bitch, etc.

My last long term relationship ended in part because my partner was becoming very dictatorial in her manner and turning into a Peggy Mount type character...you young uns look her up..Im happy to be directed not dictated !

No one is saying women don't do it too but the discussion was about it being common behaviour from men, obviously it is not an attractive quality in either sex but the way we view it in men compared to how we view it in women is very different - something which your Peggy Mount/battle-axe comparison demonstrates.
