Last night DS1 (16) was on my iPad as his phone is broken. DS2 uses it to watch youtube. Today, DS2 wanted to use it but it wouldn't turn on so he gave it to me and when it turned on, porn was up. I was shocked and showed my DP and he said if I wanted he’d speak to DS1 (DP isn't ds1s biological father). I'm not sure though as I don't want him to be embarrassed.

How would you approach this?

Yes DP and DS1 have a good relationship. I don't want DS1 to be embarrassed so I'm not sure if to ask DP to speak to him or if I should just remind him to close all the tabs if he's been using my iPad

First of all Don't be shocked -
save that emotion for another time. He is 16 and looking at porn! Not shocking at all.

I am that mum who would tell him about clearing history on a shared device as well as his own private one! as well as reiterating that the porn industry does exploit women and that it's not real sex.

But to be honest I'd have that conversation way before 16. That's something I talk to my DS12 about now.

100% he will be embarrassed but that is on of the joys of raising teenagers! Watching them squirm

You sort out your broadband so that porn can’t be watched! I am not the cool mum that would consider this none of my business. I’d say something, probably along the lines of how degrading it is to women without saying don’t. That never works anyway.

Agreed. And as the mother of now adult sons, the house broadband rules were: no gambling sites, no porn, no dodgy security risk sites.

Please just do this, OP. No need to go into some big tirade over the rights and wrongs of the porn industry.
