to apply for another job

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer, I recently returned to work. Since returning I have struggled quite badly with fatigue and also to reconnect with my colleagues which I think is mainly down to a lack of confidence in myself.
A job has come up in the town I live in same role same wage, at the moment my commute takes around 30-40 mins so been able to walk to work would be great.
So in normal times I would snap the job up but because of my diagnosis and not having the all clear I don't know if I will need more surgery and I'm still struggling with fatigue and working full days.
i'm not sure if now is the right time to be applying for new jobs at least I know that my job with my current employer is safe as I have been there over 2 years where as if I was to start a new job and then need time off sick or for appointments they might not be so flexible.

yes - apply for the job life is too short!
no - stay put, better to be safe than sorry!

I would apply for it. Doesn't mean you'll get it and doesn't mean you'd take it, if you did. But apply for it and see what you think in the interview.

Do you know if the new employer has a rolling amount of sick pay depending on service? I know mine does and its quite low for the first 6 months to a year. Can you afford to be off sick without full pay? That would be a worry for me. Otherwise is makes sense to go for the shorter commute.

@16lily I've used all my CSP entitlement so would be on SSP. My main concern is if a new employer would not be so flexible around hospital appointments.
