Worried about Dh health (Tmi )

DH is 39yo diabetic T1, twice in the last month he has had blood in the urine for a day and then cleared out the next day. (sorry TMI).
He went for a urinalysis, which picked up microscopic trace blood. He was then referred to a urologist who did scans and his kidneys, bladder seemed fine. They have booked him in for a cystoscopy this week. The urologist said that he will also correct something if he finds an issue. We have been researching and off course google has led us down the path of the worst. Has anyone dh experienced this.
It seems like a routine check, however we have had some trauma with losing our baby late into my pregnancy so we are just anxiety ridden and imagining the worst. I just needed to talk about this, as we are so worried. Sad

I'm so sorry you lost your baby Thanks

I understand how worried you must be waiting for answers. Because your dh is T1 they will take better care of him than if he wasn't - it is one of the few upsides to having what is otherwise a complete pain in the ass condition!

Also, sounds like your dh acted almost as soon as he saw the blood which is another positive, so if it is 'something' then hopefully they will catch it early.

Good luck!

I’m sorry to hear about your baby Flowers
There are many up-sides to what you’ve told us, honestly. Your DH didn’t ignore the problem, he went straight to the doctor. This is good! He’s also in regular contact with medical professionals anyway due to his diabetes, so if there IS something going on they’ve caught it very quickly!
And Google - the way search engines work, is the most clicked results work their way to the top of the list. Medscape and NHS are rarely at the top, but the tabloids with the “doctors missed CANCER and it’s too late!” get clicked on in panic with the C word, and up the list they go.
It’s very easy for me to say this I know, but do try not to panic!

I am type on diabetic and the only time I've had blood in my urine was when I had a UTI (although I'm a woman). Sorry not much help but I hope you get it sorted and that it's nothing serious!

Thank you for the replies. I have just found my thread again. Have been trying to keep distracted. We didn't end up doing the cystoscopy as we didn't feel very confident with the doctor. We received the forms for the procedure the day before and it had a completely different procedure to what was discussed at the consult. So we didn't do it. We have booked with another urologist which we are seeing next week. It was a wait to get an appointment with him. Just this morning, my dh passed the tiniest of blood clot. Absolutely tiny. So now the anxiety is through the roof. To make matters worse this is exactly around the same time we lost our baby. So it's almost surreal that we are going through something again. Sad

sorry for your loss.

it's good that dh is getting hus issue investigated.
it could be 'just' an uti, or polyps in the bladder. sometimes those can turn into cancer if they are left to grow. if they are found during the scope they will be removed there and then and sent for testing.

good luck!

It’s good he acted quickly. A good friend had a diagnosis of bladder cancer about 18 months ago. It was found early and she an operation to have the growths removed and a single dose of chemotherapy directly into the bladder afterwards.
Was home after 24 hours and rested well. She is fine now and being monitored.
