“England’s NHS plans to share patient records with third parties
55m patients have until June 23 to opt out of having their health data scraped into a new database”
🙄😤
So they want to sell our data without our consent because we are automatically opted in.
Who are they selling it to and what are they doing with it and why is anyone’s guess.
I’m opting out as soon as I have a minute to sort out the opt out form - I’m angry that I have to waste my time to opt out of something I never opted in and my data is going to be sold to random 3rd party. Regardless whether the data is going to be anonymised, the whole thing is plain wrong.

NHS Privatisation is well and truly here.

I have printed out the forms for my mum, but not given them to her as yet. She went to the doctor today and asked for a form. The receptionist told her that if she opted out, then if she keeled over in the street, an ambulance would not pick her up and treat her becuase she had opted out.

If this kind of disinformation is being given out to scare the elderly by the NHS, then there must be a lot of money involved in selling on our data. I have encouraged my Mum to opt out and I will be doing the same.

@thegcatsmother
That's awful to hear. Why are they so desperate to sell our information on? I would make a formal complaint to the practice manager to start with - no-one should be scared into signing a form for this type of thing.
I did hear that the release of information has been postponed until September. Does anyone know if this is true?
