AIBU to ask for help to find a cheap accessible holiday

We are two adults and four kids in the North West looking to find a holiday we can both afford and use!

Normally we get airbnb Haven caravans and use them as a jumping off point for local beaches, council swimming pools and other tourist sites like castles, museums etc. We usually pay £60 a night for accommodation. Take our own food. Have a budget for day trips on top of that.

Now I am in a wheelchair, I need no stair access to the accommodation, downstairs bathroom and bedroom OR stair lift. I can take the other aids I need myself (bath seat, suction grab bars, bed sitter upper etc)

I was hopeing to find somewhere near Chester, so we could go to the zoo and the aquarium.

But any location would be great.

I know I am asking a lot but is there anyway we could find a cheap caravan/bungalow or house with a stair lift to rent?

Travelogue or Premier Inn ?

Chester is a pleasant zoo

Would a ground floor accessible hotel room be easier than a caravan.

Just guessing that we couldn't cook in a hotel room. If they had a fridge, we could prep cold food.

I can walk a few steps with crutches, so as long as I can get in somewhere and it is flat, I will be fine.

I haven't been away in the chair before, so no idea where we could go iyswim

As I have only had the chair, since last summer and we didn't go away last year.

Haven have quite a few accessible caravans - only used them with DD who uses a wheelchair, but have seen adults using them too (so assuming they are big enough) Ramp up, wetroom and sliding doors. Think the sink in the kitchen was lower too. Allocated parking outside the van. Not sure how it compares to standard ones price wise as only as ever stayed in adapted ones.

Premier Inn’s accessible rooms are brilliant (if you don’t need a hoist or have a huge chair) but you would be way over budget as you would need another room too.

There are a few websites that are directories of accessible accommodation. Can’t remember off the top of my head as we haven’t really left the house for 18 months!!!

Google Ratcliffe disabled holidays.
Prices are very reasonable.

You are welcome Op
I've stayed at their lakeside caravan several times and it was lovely.

Double our budget unfortunately. But they look wonderful places.

Once I am in work, we will have a bigger budget.

Probably looking at another staycation this year. We can have a couple of days out instead. A lot less packing, lol! Grin

@Etihad Yes, Haven is on my list to ring. I suspect the prices will be beyond our budget but it is worth a phone call.
