To think the NHS should use the UK date format in texts for clarity?

My next Covid vaccination appointment is the 8th of June.

I've had a reminder text.

Telling me that it's the 6th of August HmmHmmHmm

AIBU to think this is pretty unacceptable?

(Photo 2 shows original booking of 7th June, I had to amend but that's the only text I ca fund indicating a June appt, apologies for oddity)

YANBU

Hopdathelf · 29/05/2021 08:33

I agree. Confusing.

Shock
newnortherner111 · 29/05/2021 08:35

Yes of course they should. Would be better if the month could be spelled out of course, better for those with limited sight as identifying numbers becomes one of the most difficult things.

BruceAndNosh · 29/05/2021 08:36

That's really bad

paralysedbyinertia · 29/05/2021 08:37

YANBU, that's confusing. The texts that I have had from the NHS recently do use the UK format, or in some cases, they actually state the name of the month, which is probably the option least likely to cause confusion. I think they should all follow a standard pattern.

BruceAndNosh · 29/05/2021 08:38

Actually, I've just checked.
My text correctly told me that mine was on 12th May, not the 5th December

YellowScallion · 29/05/2021 08:39

Are you sure it is actually booked for the 8th June? Seems odd that the first email would be UK format and the second not

BruceAndNosh · 29/05/2021 08:41

You should get those images deleted by MNHQ as you've included your booking reference number

I didn't think that was identifying- could it cause issues?

I agree with YellowScallion. Is there somewhere you can double check it’s not in August accidentally? It does seem very bizarre to suddenly change their format.

cupsofcoffee · 29/05/2021 08:48

My vaccine is today and my confirmation text and reminder text both have the UK format on them.

I would double check!

LakieLady · 29/05/2021 08:50

Absolutely they should.

Far too much Americanisation of language going on in the UK imo.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/05/2021 08:51

My first appointment was mid March. So the June date is correct!

I've enclosed a photo showing the June date text a couple of posts up^^

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/05/2021 08:53

Enclosed??? Grin

How delightfully old school!

Obvs I've attached a photo

Definitely better to use the word for the month for extra clarity!

Are you sure they didn't change it OP and this is their weird way of letting you know?

YellowScallion · 29/05/2021 08:56

My reminder text says Tue, Jun 1st at 12:15 pm

Gold star for them! (Regional not national booking service)

Chasingsquirrels · 29/05/2021 08:56

Mine (GP booking not national hub site, but still online and text notifications) says 03-Jun-2021. Which is much clearer and without potential for error.

RightYesButNo · 29/05/2021 08:59

I cross-posted with you, OP, as you say you’ve found another message that it’s definitely in June. I can only see the photos in your OP? As many other people are saying their texts had the right format, perhaps yours was just a one-off error? Still... I might go to the link ( www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ ) and use the “manage my appointments” bit to view my appointment and make triply sure something hasn’t gone wonky.

bruffin · 29/05/2021 09:02

My 2nd one is today and is in uk format,i also received a reminder this week in uk format
Are you sure when you changed it you didnt get august date by mistake

Lessthanaballpark · 29/05/2021 09:03

Oh my god same! I was so confused 🤷‍♀️

ChaosTrulyReigns · 29/05/2021 09:03

@Cupcakeschocolate

Are you sure they didn't change it OP and this is their weird way of letting you know?
They're also sent me a text on Thursday to try to get me to bring it forward.

Unfortunately none of those dates worked for me.

So 8th June it is! Definitely not 6th August Wink
