Handhold. DM in A & E. So worried.

DM was advised to go to A and E by her GP for chest pains. She has had them for around a week but getting worse. He asked about her symptoms and advised she get to A and E asap.

DH and I drove her up and waited in the car. I've gone home now to put toddler to bed and DH is still there waiting for DM.

They've done an ECG and apparently it wasn't good. But we dont know what that means yet. She's had a chest X Ray and is waiting blood results.

No idea what to expect.

She is in the best place and sounds like she is getting help before it becomes an absolute emergency so try not to worry too much.

Irishterrier · 28/05/2021 22:26

I'm sorry for you OP. I hope someone can tell you what a not good ECG means. And I hope your mum gets better x

blaisealex · 28/05/2021 22:34

Thanks all. Feeling pretty useless stuck at home. Not sure what to do with myself. Would like to be with her. Still no news on anything yet.

Try and get some rest (I know it sounds silly but you’ll need it in the long run). My darling dad had a heart attack last year, a fairly serious one at that. I am not saying this to frighten you but he was taken by ambulance and went straight to a cardiac centre where he had two stents put in place. From the time we called the ambulance to him being in a ward post stent was about 4 hours. He later went on to have a double bypass a few weeks later and is doing really well.
I truly believe that in emergency care we really do see the best of the NHS.
I’ll keep you and your family in my thoughts

A “not good” ECG can mean lots of things ranging from quite minor and treatable to really serious so try not to think of what it might mean. You have taken her to hospital and you and your DH are clearly there for her which is all you can do. Does she have a mobile you that you can keep in touch with her? Even if it is an issue with her heart remember it’s not always dire, people live long and active, enjoyable lives with some conditions.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/05/2021 23:43

I hope, you get more information soon OP.

PabloSlow · 29/05/2021 08:38

Hope you get more information today Flowers

blaisealex · 29/05/2021 10:30

Well, everything is fine, apparently. The ECG was fine, not sure why they initially said it wasn't. Bloods and XRay was also fine. DM home now and will probably get back on to her GP to investigate cause of pain but at least we've ruled out anything life threatening at this point. Thank you all for the support and hand holds. I really needed it. X
