Having the week from hell .

Tooth out on Monday, dentist tried to get a second one, ended up giving me stitches . Tooth is still oozing overnight, tastes foul . Dentist said ?dry socket, salt water rinses and someone will r/v on Wednesday .

Covid jab on Tuesday 8am - in hindsight a massive mistake, should have rebooked . Felt lightheaded, fluey, fever, etc for 48 hours .

As that started to go, period started late last night - on floor in agony (background of ?endometriosis) . Haven’t had a period at all since January (PCOS) . Flooding through everything in sight .

Managed to bathroom earlier still flooding, now also have diarrhea and vomiting and very light headed .

Haven’t eaten properly since 10am Monday morning .

Phoned GP - ‘probably a weird reaction to your vaccine - phone 111’

Phoned 111 - ‘probably a funny reaction to your period (which was probably caused by the vaccine), phone GP’

Phone Gp - ‘it isn’t life threatening is it? Can you phone the chemist?’

Phone chemist: ‘That needs a GP, phone them back’

Phone GP: ‘if you do an econsult, someone will call you back by Tuesday at 6’

Do e-consult: ‘please call your GP today for an emergency appointment’

Aaaaaah FFS .

Where do you go next? It isn’t an A&E matter but something to stop me from vomiting would be a help, or pain relief - neither of which chemist said she’s happy to give as said she wants a doctor to review first ?!

Are you in antibiotics for the dry socket?

ChristmasFluff · 28/05/2021 19:23

This is too late for now, but in future, ask the chemist to phone the doctor. They will be very happy to do so, and a GP disregarding the input of a pharmacist is a big deal, should anything untoward happen to you.

OwlTwitterings · 28/05/2021 19:26

Next time, ask to speak to the Practice Manager.

Jellifer · 28/05/2021 19:32

Hope you’re feeling a bit better. You can buy Buccastem over the counter from the chemists to help with nausea if you haven’t already been given something.

Babbly · 28/05/2021 19:34

Not too helpful to you now it's this time on a Friday so sorry OP, but the only way we're able to book GP appointments is by phoning 111 and getting them to book them with our GP - otherwise the GP simply refuses to do any appointments. Worth a shot next time (if there's a next time).

To be honest, everything you’re currently suffering with seems to have a logical reason behind it. Therefore I can see why, on the surface, no one seems to want to investigate this further. They may give you painkillers to use for a short period of time as the dental pain and vaccine side effects will wear off within weeks. Then if your symptoms persist, then they’ll carry out further investigations?

Flooding through everything needs investigation and if possible, treatment.

How are you feeling OP? I'd say a&e at this point if you can't see a GP.

My gut thinks OP went to A&E.

Sorry for lack of reply last night; ended up managing to speak with a nurse practitioner eventually then in bed fast asleep from about half 6 ...

Nurse said given I’ve had heavy bleeding, severe period pain and associated D&V before it wouldn’t be appropriate to pass onto OOH GP as it needs routine rather than urgent care (ie referral to gynae) . She said similar as up thread, drink plenty of fluids; ice lollies and very light meals if I can manage . Only thing OOH could do is prescribe stronger codeine for a couple of nights .

She did say there would have been no harm in GP ringing and said it did warrant proper medical advice - doesn’t understand receptionist ringing back saying not an illness !

Tooth she thinks is probably a bit of a bad job by the dentist so getting that seen to on Wednesday morning - it’s fine during the day but then starts bleeding/oozing overnight . I’m not sure if my tongue is bothering it overnight . He tried to get a second tooth out at the same time and that ones the worst as there’s like a hole around it, with tooth half exposed which is impossible to keep clean - said it’s 2-3 years minimum before they can do the surgery to remove it (or I can pay £250 for dentist to ‘have a go’)

Vaccine they said anecdotally can cause funny periods but not overly panicked, and the side effects of that in terms of fluey stuff has cleared up .

Feel a tiny bit better this morning, have managed to eat a couple of biscuits and an ice lolly . Need to go to chemist as nurse was saying to ask for paramol (dihydrocodeine) and naproxen . Hopefully it being day 2 of period, day six tooth and day five vaccine I’ll start to feel slightly better - fingers crossed !!

I'm glad you're feeling better

Hopefully the flooding has stopped.

It has, pretty much - still very heavy but managing to use one pad instead of 3! Managed a bacon roll at lunch although had horrendous acid reflux later (probably because I’ve been taking ibuprofen like it’s smarties - within safe doses) and got into a panic as suddenly couldn’t get a breath in ... uni training kicked in and reminded me probably ‘just’ a laryngospasm (I’m a speech therapy student) . Hells teeth . And OCD (pre existing) playing up a bit . But the very fact that that’s come back is making me think I’m feeling considerably better than even yesterday . Managed a short walk to shops too earlier ... thank goodness !
