Making it through the day without a nap

I am constantly tired all the time. Generally get 8 hours sleep a night. However I still can't get through the day without having a nap (when I can). Bloods back from the doctors and all ok. I am overweight a bit abs don't have the best diet. 2 young kids 6 and 8 and am 45. Have a Berocca daily. Work full time.

Aibu to think I should be able to get through the day without napping? Any top tips for increasing my energy?

Do you know what your ferritin levels are? They can be in the 'normal' range but if they're at the low end you can still feel wiped out.

@FinksMeNot

Perhaps Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? Sad
M.E/CFS is not just feeling tired, and a nap does not leave a sufferer feeling refreshed. Ever.

Have you seen your results, or just been told that they’re normal?

I’d ask for a copy of your results. They should include reference ranges. Sometimes you might only be one or two points away from dipping “below” the normal range. If that’s the case anywhere, then they are areas to keep an eye on. Also, reference ranges can vary from area to area.

If you can get copies of your results, I’d particularly focus on thyroid levels - particularlyTSH reading. I’ve seen quite a bit recently where levels are above normal, but they won’t treat until almost double the reading. Also check B12 and Vitamin D3, both of these can make a huge difference.

Lastly, don’t let your doctor fob you off. Too many dismiss women as being depressed or hypochondriacs. You deserve to have your symptoms listened to, not just fobbed off.

Where I live, everyone does this. This is just their routine. Early night, early morning, nap after lunch. Just because naps aren't UK culture doesn't mean they're bad or that there's anything wrong with you if you need one. People here bring pillows to work (or even fold out small beds!) and everyone, without fail, naps.

@JemimaJoy I want to live where you live, sounds lovely 😊
