to be driven up the wall by this

I'm the first to admit I'm a bit of a control freak, but I try to keep a lid on it for the sake of family harmony (even though my way is always clearly right & better). Having said that, I manage to remain calm in the face of incorrectly paired socks most of the time. But it drives me up the wall when DP makes his lunch and stands in the kitchen eating it off the chopping board (usually while still finishing prepping it) instead of, y'know, getting a plate and sitting down like a normal civilised human being.

And when the kids come in from outside they always keep their coats on until repeatedly told to take them off. Our house is a normal reasonable temperature. They'll lounge around watching telly in their coats till I insist they're taken off when we all sit down to eat dinner. Who eats dinner inside wearing their outdoor coat? Grrrnnnnghhh!

YABU - it's fine, chill out, who cares about plates and coats and normal behaviour
YANBU - of course you're right and your family are uncivilised retrogrades that need telling

chopping board , completely fine.

Coats, mine have been trained as soon as they could walk to put shoes in cupboard and hang up coats

You lost me at the indoor coats ... why do your offspring not walk through the house, discarding and dropping clothes and shoes as they go? They are not normal beings! .

Oh don't worry, when they do finally part with them, they are appropriately discarded to the floor without any consideration

No, I agree with both. YANBU

Mine is when my DH stands by the bin peeling an orange and eating it by the same bin.
