To not have unlocked the door for her?

I had a facial booked and the clinic is always very quiet on a Sunday and only one member of staff there.

The member of staff was downstairs with another client and I was alone upstairs and the entrance was locked. When another woman started knocking on the door to be let in.

I felt very awkward because the door was obviously locked for a security reason and it’s not my business I’m risking by opening it so it shouldn’t be my decision.

I did eventually open the door and the woman was clearly annoyed I’d made her wait.

It's horribly awkward but I wouldn't have opened the door.
I would have tried to explain through the closed door.

Allthingsginger · 23/05/2021 14:20

That’s a bit awkward. I would have maybe gone to the door and explained I am a customer and can’t open the door and she needs to phone for access, or shouted the therapist to let her in.
Also, explain to therapist you felt uncomfortable and wasn’t sure if you couldn’t let her in, your only customer etc,. Let her work out that she needs a sign, or clearer instructions for clients.

@amylou8

No you shouldn't have opened it at all, unless you knew who the person knocking was. You're a customer not a member not staff, the door was locked for a reason.
I agree, however I can understand you opening the door for her and she should not have been disgruntled about being kept waiting. It was hardly your fault, you were a customer and it couldn't have been for very long.

Hope you enjoyed your facial.

Some situations are a little awkward however you deal with them. Best thing to do is have a guess at what the best thing is to do and don’t worry about it too much. I think a lot of Mumsnetters love to be really adament about things being RIGHT or WRONG where in real life things don’t matter that much and aren’t that black and white.
I think I’d have opened the door and told the women that you would let the staff know she is waiting as soon as possible. It wouldn’t have bothered me if she was annoyed or not.

"Op is the salon in a place starting with a L ?"

Confused why? Is the place beginning with L also the home of super special secret facial?

MintyMabel · 23/05/2021 15:16

I’m not going to interrupt someone’s treatment or start shouting down stairs

Then expect to be in the same situation again.

Ask the staff what you should do next time. Sounds like a bizarre set up if they are expecting customers to let each other in. Someone I see has a similar locked door set up with a buzzer that connect with her phone. She interrupts treatments to let people in to the waiting area, it really isn’t a problem.

If it was a non event then why would people including yourself comment on it. Invested much?

And how can I take a post down exactly? Just go report it to the mods for the reason being that it didn’t meet with your perception of an event.

Funny how someone so bolshy with posters didn't have the guts to ignore the door? 🤔🤨

mainsfed · 23/05/2021 17:21

So OP is not allowed to respond to snarky posters? Confused

GreyhoundG1rl · 23/05/2021 17:31

You shouldn't have opened it at all.

slashlover · 23/05/2021 18:44

I wonder why they keep it locked...is there a lot of pricey stock around? Seems a funny thing to do and almost not worth opening on a Sunday if they can't staff it properly.

Our local beautician keeps the door locked and has a buzzer system because they got robbed a couple of years ago.

Why would you think it’s a vampire facial

You said that was the only place who offered this type of facial. Vampire facials are not offered most places. Really, the logic isn't hard to follow. 🤷‍♀️

Huh? Firstly it’s called a PRP Facial and it’s a s basic treatment done throughout the UK. Why do you think they are so illusive?
