To not want DH to sleep in with DS?

DH drank about 7 or 8 cans of bitter before coming to bed last night, and he made so much noise he woke 14mo DS up.

He took him into the spare room to give him a cuddle and help him back to sleep, but then refused to put DS back in his cot.

Ordinarily, i wouldnt mind them sharing a bed once in a while.. but NOT when DH has been drinking.

DH can't see why i made such a fuss about putting DS back in his cot, and i cant get him to understand that you don't share a bed with a baby when you've been drinking.

YANBU and you know it.

Your DH is irresponsible.

Babies have died becasue parents have smothered them when sleeping.

lailasmum · 17/11/2007 14:25

you are absolutely right. We are co-sleepers and slept together every night until our daughter moved out to her own room at about 18months-2 years(she's not their 100% yet at 3 1/2 just when she wants) but never after drinking (i.e. we never drunk alcohol). It totally dulls your senses and makes it far more likely that an accident may occur.

co sleeping is absolutely a no no if the parent has been drinking heavily or using drugs

why did he refuse to put DS back into his cot?

geekymummy · 17/11/2007 14:29
Shock
Emprexia · 17/11/2007 14:29

lulumama - because he was asleep, warm and comfy and moving him might disturb him again.

i see

but your husband was not in the right frame of mind to make that judgement call after 7 - 8 cans of bitter

you are absolutely not being unreasonable

Emprexia · 17/11/2007 14:30

added - he did let me put DS back in his cot after about 20 minutes of arguing.. he guessed i wasn't going to let him go to sleep until he did.

I just wanted a bit of reassurance that i wasn't making mountains out of molehills over it.

yanbu, but you know the man is always right!(not!) glad you stuck to your guns

VictorianSqualor · 17/11/2007 14:48

YANBU, at all, thankfully your DS ended up back in bed, if DP was to say the same I think I'd tell him he was right, DS was comfy and settled, so instead of moving him he should get the blanket out of the airing cupboard and go and sleep on the couch
