What’s in your ideal thank you gift

If someone left you a little present to say thank you for basically just doing your job, what would it be. Imagine you vaccinated someone, or put their dog down, or fixed someone’s fence. You haven’t don’t anything out of the ordinary and it’s just your job but they are very grateful. What’s appropriate

I’m confused
NHS staff can’t accept gifts
I might appreciate the sensitivity of someone putting a beloved pet to sleep but I wouldn’t buy them a thank you gift

If someone painted my fences for me I’d treat them to a couple of bottle of wine or return a favour for them

secretburper · 21/05/2021 23:18

Mug, flowers, chocolate, wine , small hamper , something useful and probably consumable

secretburper · 21/05/2021 23:19

Nice jars of chutney / jam / marmalade
Cake through the post

It depends on the budget surely.

My boss bought me a cinnamon bun recently 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 but at Christmas she did get me a spa voucher. So Is your budget cinnamon roll or spa voucher or somewhere in between?

A nice thank you card with a message would be good for NHS staff - it can also be used for annual appraisal

Egghead68 · 21/05/2021 23:22

Agree - a nice card with a thoughtful message

greenlynx · 21/05/2021 23:24

Box of nice palm oil free chocolates: small for small fence, big for big fence.

Rosewood017 · 21/05/2021 23:25

Someone sent me some amazing brownies from an online bakery and it was the best present!

Rabbitheadlights · 21/05/2021 23:27

Agree, a simple card with a simple message

Merryoldgoat · 21/05/2021 23:29

Card, cake, candle, flowers. Anything unexpected and small is nice.

One of the teachers where I work used to bring me a small box of 4 luxury truffles every Christmas for helping him with his budget and it was lovely and thoughtful.

As an orangutan lover (orangufan?), I would consider that to be a really thoughtful gift 🦧

I gave three NHS £10 gift cards for M&S (to get lunch on me) that they happily accepted. (End of last year)

@Idontknowanymore05

I didn’t say you couldn’t give them I said they can’t accept them. Technically any publicly funded organisation is supposed to declare any gifts - especially monetary ones - as a matter of policy and transparency. It would be the decision of the employer whether they could be used or kept.
Not dashing leaving a box of celebrations at a reception is going to get anyone into hot water however Wink

In my (school) contract it says I have to declare gifts if they are worth over £25 (it hasn't happened...yet!)

Cowbells · 22/05/2021 07:15

I am always delighted when clients give me flowers or potted plants.

ThatIsMyPotato · 22/05/2021 07:17

Just a thank you. If I'd put someone's dog down I wouldn't be wanting a gift for it.
