To wonder what medicine in the future will look like?

Currently studying for alleid health and not an anti vaxxer etc ...however...
Chemotherapy causes great suffering aswell as healing.
I met a lady whose auto immune medication causes skin cancer as a side effect.
So while modern medicine is great...do we think we will ever reach an era with no side effects etc?

I think it'll all be preemptive gene manipulation

Definitely, all all medications can cause adverse reactions. Hopefully one day, we’ll be able to map
the geome in such detail that we’ll be able to tailor make drugs to the individual.

Whether that will be feasible within the nhs is another matter.

But even now, I’m always amazed that people put up with side effects from medication that could be lessened by a different drug. Sometimes it can’t abc it’s minor. But if you do have a side effect from a medication, always tell your doctor, there ate oftem alternatives.

From experience, they probably don't know this!

They're developing a new form of chemo that specifically targets the cancer leaving healthy cells undamaged which is a major breakthrough, so I think its possible that medications without side effects will be possible. Still a couple of lifetimes away though I think.

Robotic surgery will become commonplace, with surgeons operating from another side of the world to the patient.

Eventually we should see a major shift towards preventative medicine with more emphasis on maintaining wellness rather than treating illness.

Genetic profiling will no doubt be part of this.

Bionics and the science to enable people to live to hitherto unforeseen ages...Its entirely possible we will see a much greater divide between the Haves and the Have Nots.

Assisted suicide will be legalised.

Anti biotic resistance needs to be dealt with.

Big ethical ramifications for all sorts of things will need to be worked through (definition of death, preventative medicine, bionics, modern-day eugenics etc).

And of course, new diseases will appear for which we won't have treatments.
