Home decor without Pinterest

I've been looking at inspiration for home decor on Pinterest and it seems like everything is totally unachievable! There is never any clutter (we have loads), no sign of people actually living in the rooms (DH and DS leave trails of crap wherever they go), and everything looks so expensive that I'd be scared to have a glass of wine anywhere but over the sink!

Do people actually live like this? My house is clearly not Pinterest-worthy, despite having put in an effort to choose furnishings I like. Is it normal to have such an immaculate home, or am I just a slob?

If you have loads of stuff, as I do, maybe IKEA catalogue as inspo might be more realistic? Sounds like you need storage solutions.

I've had a look at Ikea in the past, but I'm not a huge fan of Scandi style, as it seems sparse to me. I'm more into Arts & Crafts or something a little eclectic.

Ikea does all sorts. Agree with pp. You need storage solutions. My house isn't super immaculate like on pics, obviously, but i have loads of storage for all my crap so it actually looks tody

Also, lots of that stuff look expensive on pictures, but in reality it's pretty meh and cheap. Like these thows from wowcher😂 I got one🤦

If you like Arts and Crafts style then you'd be better off borrowing books on the original from the library and seeing how they accommodated "stuff". They usually had quite a lot of it.

Magazines dealing with more traditional style homes eg Period Living might also help - you could check out their websites.

The problem with Pinterest is that every house is painted in the same colours with the same furniture regardless of whether it is suitable or not.
