Dealing with a micromanager

I’m doing some temp work at my old employer. The woman I’m working with is a difficult, negative micromanager. We had words after the agency got the manager involved as she was belittling me and when she trained me she would back track on her training saying I done things wrong. She checks up on things and asks why it has not been done when she has given you chance to complete the tasks, she is always in a rush to get things done. I can’t work in a burn out mode.

Yesterday other colleagues snapped at her for interrupting their meeting and she feels upset now. I thought now she knows how it feels having someone being snappy. She must rub people up the wrong way. I only have a few weeks left now. She stayed at the organisation for nearly a decade which has gotten worse since I left. I don’t intend on going back there so I don’t know why she is making things awkward. Has anyone got any tips to not let this negative person get me? Thanks.

Google, "How to be a good manager." Then decide she's a crap one. Then leave - micromanager a have serious issues and should not be in positions where they can demotivate everyone around them to make themselves feel better.

I also wrote a post-it which said, "Smile and stay silent" which worked for a couple of weeks but wouldn't work long term as they live to make other people feel like shit

Count down the days, sympathise with those who snapped at her, and a few minutes before you leave make it very clear how disgusted you are with her. Ask the agency to have it on record that you would not have continued long-term working with her.

I survived 12 months in a job I loved with a manager I hated.... I left before I committed an arrestable offence!

Thanks for all the tips. I know it’s not long now and I will tell the agency I don’t want to work with her again if the ‘opportunity’ arises.
