Went to Bingo at dd1's primary school tonight.

Family ticket £2
Pizza slices (pre-ordered) 75 p each
Bingo tickets - 20 p each
Cups of tea/coffee 30p#
Cans of beer - £2 each
Fruit shoot (not that I'd buy one £1

plus Raffle tickets £1 per strip

we ended up paying £16 altogether for this one and a half of "fun"

is it me or is that a bit outrageous?

I wasn't aiming the comment at you Emkana, I know you are on the PTA.

But it really gets my goat when people come on here and moan about the PTA, but are not prepared to change it from within.

I am too Bree. And I think quite a lot of people on this thread are tbh.

Unfortunately our school has to raise money for basics like library books and school day trips rather than extras such as a digital camera.

PSAs need to be more inclusive imo.

Well said Bree.

Well, the tactics are certainly working, I have emailed my sons godmother and told her "You are buying 5 raffle tickets at 50 pence each. You are also welcome to the fair. Dinner at mine after" She said, sure, I will buy £10 worth of tickets, I have a date, wont come to the fair, you'll see me for dinner at yours."

And I have my husbands elderly aunt for dinner today, and will sell to her, at this rate I will be BEGGING the PTA for more.

Now, I cant make up my mind whether to bake 24 cupcake and one large chocolate fudge cake, or just 50 cupcakes. Chocolate icing, my son will love to decorate.

Hey Ho, it is Christmas right...

I just saw your comment Bree about not being willing to change it from within. Not all of us have so many resources. I am skint to the bone, but I can bake. I cannot easily enter into a ticket selling competition where I end up paying for most of the tickets!

It has never occurred to me to feel embarrassed by returning the tickets mostly unsold with my name on the front - would happily put it in capital letters. Am not ashamed of myself/my family for this. We dont have a competition connected with it though. Actually in past have forgotten to return tickets at all (which I am sure lots of people do) and no one checks on it.

Bingo prices sound okay to me. I know the effort that goes into organising and the money is for a good cause.

Actually dont like the cake baking find it a chore. They sell for 10p each (fairy cakes and the like) so for all the effort and ingredients, a princely £2.40 will be made for my contribution. Would rather donate the £2.40 but I dont I make the damn cakes and smile.
So I guess its hard to please everyone and make money.
