To think there should be one day a week when using power tools in the garden is prohibited?

I know I'm being totally unreasonable and that people have different work shifts and commitments that mean they have to do these jobs whenever they can fit them in... But for the love of Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey I'd love one day when I could sit out in the garden without Derek at number 33 cranking up his strimmer, or Colin at 46 breaking out the power washer.

Anyone else?

It’s life. My neighbour goes into his garage everyday, routinely at the same time and has done since I moved in 3 years ago and drills, saws, bangs. Christ only knows what he’s been building but it’s his hobby and as he’s elderly, I’m glad he’s keeping himself busy with his little quirks. Has it ever annoyed me? Sure but the world and others life doesn’t revolve around me. Stick some ear
plugs in or get out more.

I never thought there would be any positives to being very hard of hearing but being able to sit in my garden with no sound other than an occasional bird tweet I must admit is heaven.

It's good for my neighbours too as I don't listen to music and my tv is normally muted with subtitles on.

Nice in theory, let's assume Monday. Local authorities have insufficient powers, Tories have cut the police to the bone, the logical solution of cutting off electricity does no good as they are rechargeable.

The only workable solution is that you would be allowed to smash up said tools, but such vandalism would never be permitted.

I'm the oldest in our street and I am definitely not the one waking everyone up at 8am on a Sunday with a jet washer/power tool/lawnmower! (Although you might occasionally hear me yelling "shut that effing noise up" out of my bedroom window when it's particularly bad). Someone is always doing something, no matter what their age or what day it is.

I take my car to the car wash, DH mows once a month at most and I've haven't used the karcher in over a year.
