Does fresh parsley feel hot to you?

I always just presumed it was the case for everyone. That when you touch fresh parsley it feels hot, almost like a slight stinging sensation where it touches your skin.

It turns out when you say this in front of people they look at you as though you've lost your marbles...

I cannot be the only one!?

YABU nope don't feel a thing

No. Could you have an intolerance to it?

BrightYellowDaffodil · 17/05/2021 22:35

I wouldn’t say it burns but there is a warmth to it...

ShirleyPhallus · 17/05/2021 22:37

No. But eating apples tickles the roof of my mouth.

Yes sort of a warm tingle? It's the same with coriander I think.

It feels a bit warm to me whereas basil and chives feel cold, for example.

I don't get a warm tingle with Parsley or Coriander. I love Parsley but coriander is revolting, it tastes like soap it's disgusting and vile. Not the seeds or crushed, it's only the green parts of the plant. It's like having a bar of Palmolive soap grated over your food.

gelatodipistacchio · 17/05/2021 22:51

You're probably allergic. I would avoid.

I have fresh parsley growing in my kitchen . Just checked and it feels cool like every other plant .

Some people get a soap like taste from eating Coriander . I think it’s a genetic trait similar to how some people get a very bitter aftertaste when eating Cucumber . Remember learning it in science years ago.

I’ve never heard of people finding parsley hot to the touch but I am always a bit perplexed that other people can eat fresh pineapple without bleeding.

Do you have hayfever symptoms around June/July? It’s probably grass (ragweed?) pollen allergy

Google “oral allergy syndrome charts” - you’ll see the list of fruit/veg that cross-react with the pollen you might be reacting

SteppedOnBloodyLego · 24/05/2021 17:52

Sorry, that was to @pepsicolagirl re “blimey, that's interesting! I get itchy eating melon”
